Wake up to testing
and certification
» » WINTECH TESTING & CERTIFICATION
has been a market leader in the testing
and certification of fenestration products
over the past 25 years. Due to the
increasing demand across the market
for fabricators and systems companies
to supply fenestration products which
comply with stringent industry standards;
particularly testing and certifying to the PAS
24:2016 standard, Wintech is able to offer a
customer-focussed solution to testing and
certification.
As specialists in this field, the team has
been working with some of the industry’s
leading names and providing a refreshingly
different, boutique testing and certification
service to some of the other UKAS-
Accredited bodies available to the industry.
The vastly experienced company offers a
wide range of services from testing and
certification across a host of fenestration-
related products including windows, doors,
curtain walling, rainscreens and glazed
rooflights.
Exhibiting at the FIT Show on Stand
H3, visitors to Wintech’s FIT Show stand
will have the opportunity to get advice
regarding how their products can comply
with the requirements set out in Building
Regulations Approved Document Q and
the police-led Secured by Design initiative,
which is now needed for all window and
door products installed on new residential
building projects.
WHY IS PRODUCT TESTING SO IMPORTANT?
Wintech Director Steve Bramhill
says: “Product testing ensures your
product’s credibility, reliability and design
specifications. With regulations in the
fenestration industry becoming more
stringent, often it is a contractual or
specificational requirement for your product
to undergo some form of testing, such
as PAS 24:2016 for security, or BS 6375
Weathertightness Testing for Windows and
Doors.
“The marketplace is waking up to
the importance of product testing and
certification, and with regulations getting
more stringent, fabricators and systems

companies can’t afford to not have some
form of product testing and certification.”
Allied to is testing services, Wintech is
also a UKAS Accredited Certification Body;
offering the unique WinMark Certification
Scheme for the Enhanced Security of
Windows and Doors for PAS 24:2016.
The scheme is recognised by Secured
by Design and their latest 2019 New
Homes Guide, and is also another route to
compliance with Approved Document Q.
Wintech also offers ISO 9001:2015
Certification so that their customers can
demonstrate that their quality management
system meets the requirements of the
latest standard.
COMING SOON
Associate Director of Certification
at Wintech, Mark Swanborough has
announced that the WinMark Window and
Door General Performance Certification
Scheme will soon be introduced as
an entry level certification scheme,
covering windows and doors produced to
British Standards. The WinMark general
performance certification schemes will help
manufacturers certify products against the
material specific product standards.
• Timber windows to BS 644
• PVC-U windows to BS 7412
• Aluminium windows to BS 4873
• Composite material doorsets to BS
8529
Similar to the existing WinMark schemes,
the WinMark Scheme for Window and Door
General Performance will include a factory
production control audit. This enables
Wintech to assess how your products are
fabricated and quality control checked on
both an initial and ongoing basis.
Mark will be at the FIT Show to give
advice on how to navigate through Secured
by Design compliance, talk about the new
certification schemes, and dispel some
of the myths about the complications of
product certification.
“We treat each of our customers as
individuals to fully understand their needs
and requirements,” explains Mark. “This
puts us in the best position possible to offer
the services that they need, whether that
is testing, certification or a combination of
them both.
“Certification can be key for our
customers to demonstrate that their
products and processes have been
independently assessed to prove their
credibility, and the competency of the
company’s manufacturing systems as
a whole. Not only this, but our UKAS
Accredited WinMark Certification Scheme
for the Enhanced Security of Windows &
Doors opens customers up to tender for
the increasing number of developments
which now specify third-party certification.
Our WinMark scheme is recognised by the
police-led Secured by Design initiative, and
is another path to Approved Document Q
compliance.”
