Millionth
IGU installed
A leading Lancashire-based fabricator of
VEKA PVC-U glazing systems has installed
the millionth insulating glass unit (IGU)
to come off the automated SuperSpacer
production line at Padiham Glass Ltd.

was the lucky recipient of the
milestone IGU, with MD
Bill Ainsworth collecting a
complimentary magnum of
champagne as part of the
celebration!
“Besides the bubbly,” Bill
commented, “I’m very happy
that Darwen Windows had
the honour of installing this
landmark IGU from Padiham
Glass.”
Anthony Clarkson, MD at
Padiham Glass explains that, in
fact, the IGU in question was the
millionth unit to be produced by
just one of the company’s three
production lines: “A visiting
analyst pointed out that our
automated SuperSpacer line was
close to producing its millionth
unit.”
“It seemed fitting that Darwen
Windows was the client as they
are one of our longest-standing
customers, having worked with
us for around 25 years. It also
prompted us to estimate how
many IGUs we had produced
in total, taking all three
production lines into account.
The conservative figure we arrived
at was around the 5.5 million
mark!”
