CO LOUR Take the rough or the smooth Textured surfaces are in vogue. » A WIDE CHOICE OF COLOURS and woodgrain finishes is the expected norm within the fenestration market. Over the past few years the proportion of solid coloured laminated windows compared to woodgrain designs has shifted dramatically and as consumer tastes have changed, demanding matter and more realistic textured surfaces. The majority of exterior films are solid colours. Not surprisingly, Anthracite Grey continues to be the most popular colour in this category along with other darker shades such as the new Black, Black Brown and Slate Grey. Conversely, lightest shades follow. Growth in this category is realised by new textures such as Ulti-Matt, Smooth 2, Elegant Ash and Trugrain which offer additional aesthetic appeal to Black, soft grey, such as Balmoral, Pebble Grey and Agate Grey. Consistent with the concept that more modern surface finishes are a developing trend, is supported within the woodgrain category with the two designs showing the most recent growth also both incorporating modern matt surfaces. Woodgrains designs in 2019 accounted for the smaller share of exterior films. While this category is still dominated by traditional Black Cherry/Rosewood and Golden Oak, 2019 showed an increase in growth of newer, modern and more realistic designs such as Irish oak, the recently introduced Monument Oak and Honey Oak Super-Matt. 62 » M AR 2020 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M Let’s focus on how the surface finish and different textures are providing consumers with design-centric tactile and aesthetic options which fuel growth. Giving consumers choice on solid colours and more natural and realistic looking woodgrains. Enhancing the colour and providing customers with more contemporary options RENOLIT has added three new structures to their range of RENOLIT EXOFOL exterior grade films: Ulti-Matt, Super-Matt and a linear wood texture Trugrain, all developed to complement solid colours and woodgrain decors with inspirational results. For the ultimate architectural matt surface RENOLIT’s Ulti-Matt solid colour surface gives windows an extremely fashionable finish. The new Ulti-Matt texture with its low gloss and fine structure gives a painted/powder coated look to profiles but with all the additional advantages associated with a RENOLIT exterior film. As the trend has developed, the number of Ulti-Matt options has increased to eight with the introduction of three new stock colours for 2020; Sepia Brown, Fawn and Chocolate, added to the immediately popular 2019 addition - Sage, extending the original offer of four which comprises of white, cream, anthracite grey plus genuine black. Trugrain is a new fine detailed wood style emboss which adds a dynamic nuance of realism to fenestration products. The full beauty of the finished product results from the exceptionally detailed Trugrain emboss. Trugrain contains fine linear woodgrain pores cleverly interspersed by none planking cathedrals giving movement and variety which accumulate in to a low gloss surface finish. Notably, Trugrain was developed to complete Claystone, an exciting new colour development. This original soft clay colour blends sandy fawn tones with a greyish undertone. It is inherently sophisticated and a particularly versatile neutral shade ideally suited for new build, period renovations or commercial applications. RENOLIT EXOFOL PFX Super-Matt is the name of the new film which is based on the advanced RENOLIT EXOFOL PX grade film combined with the PVDF top coat already well known from the premium product RENOLIT EXOFOL FX. PVDF improves surface protection and increases the film’s resistance to dirt and chemicals, and even graffiti can be easily removed. The surface finish accentuates the wood characteristics with a subtle contrast emanating from between the surface and the emboss valleys, resembling a more natural, finished oak. This new product is currently available in four oak decors: Honey Oak, Ginger Oak, Pepper Oak and Weissbach Eiche, whose authentic designs are particularly well suited to the strikingly different woodgrain surface finish. In total RENOLIT offers a global stock range of almost 90 different woodgrain designs, solid colours and textured surfaces all of which can be viewed, and samples ordered via www.renolit.com/exterior
