And we
keep on
marching on
I can’t believe it’s March already,
but when the notification came
to put pen to paper for my
monthly intro, I was forced to
recognise that we’re two months
deep into 2020 (even if one of
them is the shortest of all).
» DID ANYONE DO ANYTHING EXTRA
special with their one extra day I wonder? And Happy
Birthday to anyone born on 29th February; four years’
worth of presents in one go - lucky you!
Even though we had the once-in-every-four-year event
just before this magazine was sent out, it was business as
usual at Clearview HQ. Working on a magazine certainly
helps one to appreciate the cyclic nature of life, even if
the deadline dates seem to come faster and faster, which I
never understand. As a fenestration publication, every issue
of Clearview is door and window focussed, of course, but
this month we’ve expanded our reach to cover even more
designs and developments when it comes to doors, plus
the what, where, when, and why of windows in March’s All
Doors and Window Extra.
In amongst all the regular features, one section that
seems to grow and grow - and I always enjoy putting it
together too - is hints and tips for Installer Support. And,
with more and more marketing material from all sizes
of businesses from huge corporations to smaller family
companies focussing on customer service and satisfaction
- and not the consumer but every link in the supply chain
- I’m not surprised that the installer section continues to
flourish, as people use our magazine as a channel to the
fitter. From the other side of the coin, installers is there
anything you like to see more of from the ‘top down’ or
from Clearview in particular? Please get in touch, if you can
- my door is always open (although only metaphorically, I’ve
edited enough hardware sections to know that it needs to
be locked really!)
Finally, with news that FIT will be returning to a biannual
schedule - the next event in May 2021 - all attention has
turned to the upcoming Fensterbau Frontale. I’m sad to say
I haven’t made it to one yet, and I thought 2020 might’ve
been my year, but I’ll look forward to all the post-event
news and reviews from the show so please keep me posted
on all the highlights, anyone who’s going.
See you next time,
Gemma, Editor

FIT SHOW
REVERTS TO
BIENNIAL FREQUENCY
Organisers confirm next
event will be May 2021.
» ORGANISERS OF FIT
Show have announced the
decision to revert the show to
a biennial format, with the next
event confirmed to take place on
Tuesday 25th to Thursday 27th
May 2021 at the NEC Birmingham.
There will therefore be no FIT
Show in 2020.
The announcement follows
continuing unprecedented political
and economic uncertainty, which,
whilst recently becoming more
positive, has driven the decision
to take FIT Show back to its most
successful format.
“The conditions that prompted
the announcement of a FIT Show
in 2020 have all changed, even since
we made the announcement at the
2019 event”, commented FIT Show
Event Director, Nickie West. “We
have listened to the many active
voices in the FIT Show community
and will return the event to its most
popular frequency, and everything
that has made it a success. It is with
huge disappointment, and with a
genuine desire to preserve the long-
term success of FIT Show for the
entire industry, that we have made
this decision.”
The organisers report that
support for 2021 has been, and
continues to be, very positive.
“Where companies have been
unable to commit to 2020, they
have confirmed they will be a
part of 2021. We can now pursue
that enthusiasm and focus on
delivering a fantastic FIT Show
next year,” added Nickie.
Co-founder and FIT Show
Director, Paul Godwin commented:
“I believe the announcement to
concentrate on 2021 is the right
decision. The whole team is now
focussed on ensuring FIT Show
returns to its roots.”
Matthew Glover, who launched
the show with Paul in 2013 added:
“The FIT Show changed how the
glass and glazing industry does
business. Trading conditions have
been difficult and, whilst the 2020
event was announced in good
faith, it has not proved possible to
deliver an event of the stature the
industry deserves and we will get
back to the format the industry
believes is the best for them.”
“We are working closely with
all of our partners to ensure
that the move over to the 2021
timeline is as seamless as possible.
I’d like to thank everyone for their
continued support.”
FIT Show is the UK’s number
one, award-winning showcase
for the glass, glazing, window,
door, hardware and components
industry. FIT Show will return
to the NEC 25- 27 May 2021,
occupying halls 2 & 3.
