DOORS & WINDOWS

Profile of Choice

»»
YORKSHIRE BASED KINGFISHER Windows has adopted the award winning Optima system as its PVCu product of choice.
Neil Webster, Managing Director of Kingfisher Windows, said:“ The decision to change profile is never easy due to the major investment required for changing processes, retooling and restructuring the whole PVCu manufacturing plant to work the new profile.
“ But with Optima range being launched in April by Profile 22, we quickly recognised that the long term benefits of being able to provide both the conventional Casement and Tilt and Turn PVCu window alongside a new and highly innovative Flush Casement and Tilt and Turn option.”
This comes on the back of Kingfisher announcing a pending move into new premises later in the year to facilitate the production of PVCu, Aluminium and Composite door fabrication as well as the subsequent handling and movement of each of these very different materials.
The Company is working very closely with all of its major suppliers to gain maximum leverage from the differing marketing departments so as to create a whole new suite
‘ long term benefits’
of sales and marketing tools to best represent such a unique cross combination of PVCu, Aluminium and Composite door fabrication – all under the one roof.

THE CREAM OF THE CROP

»»
A LARGE, BESPOKE, PRIVATE HOUSE in rural Cheshire has not only proven the ideal showpiece for the VEKA PVCu vertical slider but has also demonstrated how the classical styling of the VS, including many heritage authenticity features, can be just as much at home in a new-build setting.
Based on the unusual combination of cream foil out / white foil in, the house uses both straight and arched frames, with astragal bars as well as deep bottom rail and run-through horns for maximum authenticity. The result is a look which accentuates rather than contrasts the classical but uncluttered lines of the property.
Oldham-based D & M Windows was chosen by main contractor H Cumberbirch & Son to install 66 windows and French doors fabricated by The Glazerite UK Group Ltd, with the cream / white foil as a special order.
“ This was a no-compromise contract right from the beginning,” said D & M Managing Director Mark Hoolickin.“ The client expected the best of everything and, with the help of the VEKA system and Glazerite, we were able to deliver it, from product specification to the design and look of the finished product.”
