CELEBRATING A DECADE
Epwin Sales Director Wolfgang Gorner
presents Doorsmart co-founder Craig
Broadley with plaque for being a loyal
Profile 22 customer for 10 years.
»»WHEN WOLVERHAMPTON DOOR
specialist, Doorsmart, celebrated 10 years as
a loyal Profile 22 customer, it was no surprise
when the Epwin Group and Sales Director,
Wolfgang Gorner, visited the family firm
to present them with a trophy to mark the
anniversary.
Doorsmart was one of the first companies
to take the Profile 22 Composite Door and,
as co-founder Craig Broadley explained,
they have never had any reason to regret the
decision: “We don’t sell on price; we just
offer the best door and the best furniture
and that is what we get with Profile 22 and
Safeware.
“We are a family firm with a good
reputation and a lot of our business is by
recommendation so we need a supplier and
product that can help us keep that reputation.
Profile 22 is a system that works and the
people are always ready to help if we need
them.”
Wolfgang Gorner added: “It’s fantastic
to see the heritage and experience within
Doorsmart. We at the Epwin Group and
Profile 22 are extremely proud of our
partnership with the company and we are all
looking forward to the next 10 years."

WARWICK NORTH WEST
TAKES ON NEW APPRENTICES
»»WARWICK NORTH WEST, THE
Merseyside based PVCu fabricator of luxury
high end products, has collaborated with
regional training provider Express Training
to offer work and training to local young
people. The company has taken on four new
apprentices, all as fabricators in the 25,000
square foot factory.
Director Greg Johnson explained: “Ask
anyone in glass and glazing what they see as
one of the biggest long-term challenges facing
the industry today, and they’re likely to say
the skills shortage. We’ve got a fantastic and
ever-expanding range of products, the most
diverse selection of aesthetic options we’ve ever
had, and technology that keeps improving all
the time. But without skilled people, that all
counts for nothing.
“There are thousands of young people out
there with a huge amount of potential, but
lacking the investment and encouragement
they need to flourish. At Warwick, we want to
take a lead in investing in the future.”
The apprentices, Ryan, Luke, Jack and
Gerard, will experience various aspects of the
business during their on-the-job training,
picking up crucial skills to help them progress
within glass and glazing.
Established in 1998, Warwick North West
recently launched Innolux, a collection of
PVCu windows and doors that combine
innovation and luxury.

VEKA UK smashes fund-raising record
»»THE VEKA UK GROUP
has presented its biggest ever
charity cheque, having raised
more than £14,910.26 for The
Encephalitis Society.
The supplier’s previous biggest
donation was £5,100 for The
British Legion, raised over a sixmonth period in 2014.
The group chose to support
The Encephalitis Society for
a full year, rather than the six
months usually dedicated to
each chosen charity, after Head
of Technical Mark Barsby was
diagnosed with this condition,
which causes swelling of the
brain.
Head of Human Resources
Gabriela Hammond explained:
“The Encephalitis Society
has become a very important

charity to us here at The VEKA
UK Group since Mark was
diagnosed.
“Everyone has been so keen to
support the work being done for
those affected and their families,
that we soon exceeded our
previous fund-raising record.
“We’ve had all sorts of activities
going on, from three-day
sponsored bike rides to ‘virtual’
bike rides on an exercise bike in
the office. We’ve had bake-offs,
cake sales, pin and bracelet sales,
‘wear it blue’ days, Christmas
card donations and a sponsored
Christmas jumper day.
“Myself and a number of the
team ran the Manchester 10k and
there’s even been a company ‘waist
watchers.’
“We’ve had generous donations
from customers including
Modplan and Glazerite, for which
we are very grateful. Members
of Network VEKA also gave
generously at the AGM and
business centre event.”
