hard-to-access locations and having achieved
all of the very latest UK-wide standards,
Duraflex’s fully reversible window is proving
a hit with fabricators.
Functionality, aesthetics and performance
are the key cornerstones of the new
reversible, attaining the enhanced security
accreditation PAS 24:2016, impressive
0.8 U-Value and outstanding weather
performance, with BS6375 severe weather
testing; achieving 2400Pa Gusting and
600Pa Water and Air permeability, ensuring
peace of mind to specifiers, fabricators and
homeowners alike.
Dean Cossey, Duraflex’s Managing
Director, remarked: “Our new fully
reversible sets new standards in weather,
energy and security performance,
furthermore, it pivots both vertically and
horizontally. It has passed the most rigorous
testing programme, giving our commercial
fabricators, as well as specifiers, confidence
that they can get a product which delivers all
their project’s technical criteria.”
Easy-to-clean, thermally efficient and
high security, the fully reversible window
works with a 180-degree pivot action to
give users safe and easy access to the outer

window has been meticulously designed to
suite seamlessly with the existing Diamond
Suite. Featuring integrated transoms and
mullions ensure multi-configurations
and styles can be achieved, delivering
fabricators and installers complete system
compatibility.
As with all products in the Diamond
Suite, Duraflex’s fully reversible window
features Q-Lon, the world’s best weatherseal
gasket - with lifetime guarantee, and five

both thermal and security performance.
Aesthetics aren’t compromised either, the
new window is available in an extensive
range of foiled and flat colours, to suit any
application.

» » SPECTUS FLUSH CASEMENT
windows have recently been installed in a
picturesque cottage situated just outside
Warrington in Cheshire. When the time came
to replace the cottage’s ageing timber windows,
the owners were keen to preserve the heritage
beauty of their home but also wanted the
thermally efficient, low maintenance benefits
of modern PVC-U windows.
The 15 windows were manufactured by
longstanding Spectus fabricator, Universal
Trade Frames and installed by Manchester’s
Irlam Glass. The customer specified
mechanically jointed windows with the
popular contemporary colour Agate Grey on
the exterior and white on the interior. Monkey
tail handles and astragal bars complemented
the cottage’s heritage looks.
Colin Ashton of Irlam Glass commented:
“Very few fabricators were able to offer
the combination of Agate Grey and a
mechanically-jointed finish. Universal Trade
Frames was one of the few who could. We

were delighted with the job from start to
finish – everything ran very smoothly and the
attention to detail was excellent. We would
happily recommend Universal Trade Frames
to anyone.”
Installation of the windows on site went
smoothly too. Astragal bars on the Spectus
Flush Casement Window are factory-fitted
and Colin highlighted the benefits this brings.
“The factory-fitted astragal bars meant we
didn’t need any extra time on site and fitting
the windows was no different to fitting
standard casement windows, so we were able
to complete the job faster.”
The project is a stunning example of how
sensitively designed PVC-U windows can
enhance period properties. The team at Irlam
are delighted with the results – as are the
homeowners.
Brian Kruger, Managing Director of
Universal Trade Frames, concluded: “We’re
seeing increasing demand for heritage products
such as the Spectus Flush Casement Window
and the market-leading Spectus Vertical Slider.
It’s because they deliver everything modern
homeowners want – aesthetic integrity,
low maintenance, thermal efficiency and
exceptional security.”
