Clearview National June 2019 - Issue 211 | Page 4

PROUD SPONSOR OF INDUSTRY NEWS FROMTHEEDITOR OH OH, WE’RE HALFWAY THERE As we put together the finishing touches for the June issue of Clearview, the sun is shining through the windows, the early mornings are brighter, the days are longer, and the nights are lighter. So, as we approach the half way point of 2019, what have we learnt so far and what’s still to come? » » MAY HAS BEEN AND GONE (IN MORE ways than one), I’m back from my first FIT (and my second will be here a lot sooner than expected), but it’s business as usual here at HQ and for the rest of fenestration. On a general scale, perhaps we would’ve expected some sort of decision on the Brexit-front as we enter the sixth month of the year. Although maybe we know better than that by now. And, although my policy is almost always not to talk politics, it’s impossible to ignore the EU elephant in the room, and in terms of industry, I can’t imagine the impact it has had on being in an almost permanent state of ‘preparation’, although exactly what we are preparing for is still to be determined. I’m sure the above would’ve been a hot topic at the NEC during this year’s FIT Show, but the announcement of the event to switch to an annual show, instead of every two years, will surely have also set tongues wagging. With Clearview’s official post-event review coming up in next month’s issue – and in our sister publication PRO Installer too – I’d be interested to hear the thoughts on exhibitors and visitors about their opinion on this year’s show and whether they’ll be there next May. Back to the present, whether we’re in the EU or not, whether you go to the next FIT or not, I’m 99.9% sure everyone still needs doors, windows, conservatories, and roofs. And as long as there’s a fenestration industry, we’ll be here to report about it. Looking over the pages of this month’s magazine, and some future features already booked in there’s plenty to be excited about as well. The grey outlook of 2018 – when it comes to colour – still stands for this summer by the looks of it, so it may come as no surprise that Aluminium is re-emerging as a stand- out system. What else do you have in store for me this summer I wonder? Get in touch if you can. Gemma, Editor 4 » JUN 2019 » CL EARVI E W- U K .
