New Technical Manager Appointed
» » GUARDIAN WARM ROOF HAS
appointed a new technical manager. 41 year-
old Tim Harris from Clitheroe in Lancashire
joins Guardian from Prefix Systems in
Blackburn.
Tim has been working in the conservatory
industry for over 16 years. His career has
included senior roles with Ultraframe
and heading up his own structural design
consultancy.
New Guardian Roof technical manager,
Tim Harris, said: “The Guardian success story
is no secret. Everyone in the industry knows
all about Guardian. What they have achieved
in such a short period of time is a real talking
point.
“I’ve enjoyed many roles where I could
combine technical innovation with strategic
insight. I hope that blend will help me
contribute to the Guardian story in this next
stage of my career.”
For Guardian, Joe Kearney said: “Tim really
impressed us with his enthusiasm, expertise
and creativity. It’s rare that you get such a mix:
proven technical skills with a keen eye for
innovation.
“We are at the start of the exciting next
chapter for Guardian. Tim will have an
important role to play. And his skills will
complement the management team here at
Guardian perfectly.”
In this new wide-ranging management
role, Tim will have specific responsibilities
supporting over 20 UK fabricators in the
Guardian Network. He will support their
business-building membership potential. And
he will also consult on the existing and future
guardian product range.
Tim will also liaise with small builders and
conservatory fitters. He will have an important
role in maintaining Guardian’s rigorous
standards. This will include product education
and cascading best practice.
Tim added: “You don’t become the UK’s
leading solid roof replacement brand by
accident. There’s a lot of hard work goes into
building brand confidence that builds this
level of success. Guardian customers expect the
very best in service and quality from everyone
in the Team.”
Guardian Warm Roof is the UK’s first solid
conservatory roof system in the country with
Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and
LABSS approval. Last year, Guardian became
the UK’s first replacement roof manufacturer
to satisfy the new LABC guidelines.

Systems, the IGU and conservatory roof
specialists, is pleased to introduce Wayne Mills
in the role of Sales Manager to support the
company’s ambitious growth plans in the next
12 months. Managing Director, Ian Sims,
explains: “It’s no secret that we’ve made a
sizeable investment into the automation of our
factory with the recent installation of a super
speed vertical IGU line, but we continue to be
a sealed unit manufacturing business that’s built
around people.
“We have a certain way of doing things at
Double R – we deliver high quality units with
outstanding service and attention to detail that
sets us apart from the competition. Having
known Wayne for a long time, I knew he’d be
a good fit for this philosophy and will be able
to help us meet our ambitious growth targets
while continuing to deliver the high leve l of
service our customers expect.”
“I’ve had a long working history in selling
to contractors and installers across the building
industry,” adds Wayne, “but what really drives

me is working for companies that want to grow
in the right way. Double R has already grown
steadily whilst maintaining its good reputation
and is now looking for further growth by
building more long term relationships with
fabricators and installers that care about
quality, service and profitability. We’re looking
for mutually beneficial partnerships with
like-minded companies. Although I’ve been
managing the organisations internal sales
function I will now be taking the lead in field
sales.
“Double R has more to offer than most
sealed unit suppliers with high automation for
maximum efficiency, triple and double glazed
IGUs, a dedicated decorative department
and a comprehensive range of glass and solid
conservatory roofs. We work with all the major
suppliers of glass, conservatory systems and
components to provide customers with exactly
the specification they need. It’s great to have
so much to talk to existing and new customers
about and I’m really pleased to be involved in
the next stage of Double R’s development.”
