Best Year Yet for Multi-
point Locking System
» » SALES OF KENRICK’S
Excalibur multi-point locking
system have reached an all-time
high with the West Bromwich
based company reporting that it has
sold 500,000 sets of the shootbolts
within the last year.
The healthy growth at Kenrick
coincides with a recent quarterly
report from the CBI which revealed
that UK manufacturers have seen
strong growth in domestic orders
over the previous quarter. The CBI
Industrial Trends Survey reported
that the volume of domestic orders
rose at the fastest pace since July
2014. It also predicted that demand
would continue to rise over the next
quarter, driven by a combination of
domestic and export orders.
Steve Jones, managing director
at Kenrick, says: “Despite the
uncertainty of Brexit, optimism
seems to be rising among UK
manufacturers, which is really
encouraging. We’re delighted that
the last year has been so strong
for Kenrick with demand for
our Excalibur shootbolt showing
absolutely no signs of slowing
down. This flagship product
delivers high performance and
greater security but it’s also
competitively priced, which enables
installers to pass on the cost savings
to their customers.
“This peak in sales underlines
that homeowners do place security
and value as top priorities when
choosing their windows. This is
the best year yet for the Excalibur
shootbolt and we expect the next
12 months to be positive too as
sales continue to rise. We will be
pulling out all the stops to increase
production rates to stay ahead of
the game in what remains a highly
competitive marketplace.
Suitable for all PVCu,
aluminium and timber windows,
the Excalibur shootbolt system
is Secured by Design approved
and can comfortably satisfy the
requirements of PAS 24, 2012. It
delivers first rate security features
for the homeowner and ease of
installation for the installer. Durable
and reliable, it’s a multi-point
locking system that benefits from
steel shoot bolts, a robust unhanded
die-cast gearbox and bi-directional
die-cast claws.
Excalibur is available in a
20mm, 22mm and 25mm backset
gearbox and can be supplied as
a fully retractable system or with
steel mushroom cams. It also fits
all Eurogroove systems, making
it a very flexible option for many
different systems and applications.

» » INVESTMENT FROM
product designers can deliver
real benefits for fabricators,
installers and end users,
says Adrian Vicker, General
Manager of Siegenia in the
UK.
We work in an industry
which has grown and thrived
on the innovative products it
has invested in and brought to
market.
Over the 40 years the
industry has been active, this
has never changed, and even
in the more difficult economic
times we continue to face it
remains a constant.
Product designers have
always recognised that the
products they bring to market
will be successful - and
will find real favour with
fabricators – if they not only
offer tangible manufacturing
benefits, but also have the
potential to offer installers and
end users benefits as well.
This is the smart thinking
which really symbolises our
industry – always innovating,
always looking to design
products which are better than
what has gone before, deliver
manufacturing efficiencies,
and end user benefits for
those further down the supply
chain.
But first and foremost,
it is essential that product
designers support the
fabricators who directly buy
their products. Fabricators
are under constant pressure
- to manufacture more cost
effectively and more efficiently
and to higher technical
standards than ever before.
If designers can give them
the means to alleviate some of
these pressures, and can also
design their products to win
favour with installers, and in
turn end users, then they will
have achieved their ultimate
aim.
The route to market for our
industry is well established –
product designers, distributors,
fabricators, installers and end
users. How the designers who
sit at the start of the supply
chain go about their business
determines what will happen
further down the line.
We are lucky that in
our industry the designers
understand the needs of those
further down the line and
live to service them. They
are wholly committed to
investment, and to finding
new and exciting product
solutions to drive the industry
forward.
This approach will play a
major role in the industry’s
future success and investment
will continue to bring
significant rewards.
