INDUSTRYNEWS Opportunities in conservatory roof replacements » » EMPLAS HAS LAUNCHED THE new tiled UltraRoof380 light-weight and high performance solid roof system, opening-up access to the rapidly growing conservatory roof replacement market. According to The Window, Door and Conservatory Markets in Housing in Great Britain, (Palmer, October 2016) the market for replacement conservatory roofs was up 62% in 2015 to 11,200 installations and is forecast for continuing growth through to 2020. Manufactured by Ultraframe, the UltraRoof380 has been developed to tap into this growth area as a replacement roof system and as an alternative to traditional extension roofs. The highly-engineered solution weighs in at only a little more than a traditional glass roof at 38KG/m2. This means that it can sit on existing window frames and fitted in as little as a day. Available in carbon grey, harvest brown and terra brick finishes, engineered copolymer interlocking roof tiles offer a strong aesthetic match to traditional roof tiles and slate finishes. John Leary, Sales and Marketing Director, Emplas said: “The Ultraframe UltraRoof380 is a really smart solution, opening-up a whole new sector of the market. “The aesthetic is exceptionally strong, genuinely making it very difficult to identify the Ultraroof as anything other than a traditional roof slate. “But it’s also as a fully integrated system, its much smarter. It can be made water tight in two hours, tiled in six, it can be configured to accommodate and work with a whole spectrum of conservatory designs. “This ease of installation, coupled with genuinely exceptional aesthetics, delivers significant opportunity to installers in a rapidly growing sector of the market.” The lightweight modular system can also be designed to accommodate Velux-style roof-lights or far lower cost roof windows. An internal pelmet, replicates a more substantial orangery style internal aesthetic. “The conservatory replacement sector is a major growth area for installers”, continued Leary. “This is being accompanied by a move away from those traditional Edwardian and Victorian-type extensions towards more flexible sun room, orangery, orangery/conservatory type cross-overs and ‘family living spaces’. “The Ultraframe UltraRoof380, is a very affordable solution for the homeowner but still very high margin platform opportunity for the installer because of the installation efficiencies that it delivers.” www.emplas.co.uk Cladding makes an ‘ideal home’ » » EVERY YEAR ONE OF THE MOST popular elements of the Ideal Home Show at Olympia, London is the full-size show homes. Visitors to this year’s show were treated to two stunning properties, both featuring Freefoam Fortex cladding. Pale Gold Double Shiplap cladding formed the exterior finish of a three apartment structure designed to reflect the three stages in life, first time buyer, new family home and downsizing. Visitors were invited to ‘climb the property ladder’ apartments to navigate first- hand the design and practical challenges faced by designers and city dwellers alike as they move through these stages. Pale Blue Weatherboard cladding was used to great effect on the second show home - 21st Century Cottage. A traditional cottage with a contemporary twist designed to appeal to metropolitan families relocating to the countryside or as a second home. The house featured a beautiful thatch roof and timber cladding with the lower level also clad with ultra hard-wearing, low maintenance Freefoam Fortex pvc cladding. 6 » JUN 2017 » CL EARVI E W- U K . C O M David Richards, Director David Richard Associates, commissions the homes each year and explained the background to this year’s projects, “We wanted to showcase the flexibility of modern PVC building materials and to show how they can be used on both contemporary and traditional developments. Both homes were constructed off site by Futureform Housing Ltd so we needed to source a light, easy to handle product that would withstand the rigors of transportation and look good at the show. We have been delighted with the Freefoam cladding range and its performance throughout the project and would recommend it to homeowners and housebuilders - it made a stunning finish to both properties.” Freefoam Marketing Manager, Louise Sanderson commented, “ With over 20,000 visitors each day to the Show we were really pleased to have the Freefoam cladding range exposed to such a large, engaged homeowner audience. Cladding is rapidly becoming a very popular home improvement product and our range is meeting the demands and aspirations of homeowners and housebuilders alike. Available in a choice of eight subtle colours the range has been developed specifically for both renovation and new build projects, the perfect product to create an ‘Ideal Home!” www.freefoam.com
