CASEMENT WINDOWS
ENHANCE HERITAGE
LOOKS OF A BARN
CONVERSION
PROVIDING 20 TH
CENTURY STYLE FOR
A 1930s HOME
» » PROFILE 22 INSTALLER
Max Glass has recently completed
an impressive installation of
Optima windows and patio
doors in a 1930s home in Leeds.
Stephen Hobson, Max Glass’s
Director, says: “Our customer
lived in a 1930s home and they
wanted to maintain its period
looks. The brief we had from
them was that the new windows
and the leading needed to
replicate the original designs
so they would not look like
replacement windows.”
The project was a sizeable
one: in total 5 three-sided bay
windows, 9 casement windows, 4
arched top windows and 1 sliding
patio door needed to be replaced.
Stephen recommended Optima
from Profile 22 for the job. With
a white foil finish inside and out
and square leading, the windows
would bring a heritage look
while the Window Energy rating
of A and the low maintenance
finish would ensure they had all
the advantages of 21st century
technology and innovation.
The windows and door were
manufactured by Profile 22
fabricator Heritage Trade Frames
in Bolton and installed by the
Max Glass team in just one week
and the end results are stunning.

» » SPECTUS FABRICATOR
ADM Windows in Sheffield has
just completed the installation
of nine Spectus Flush Casement
windows in a barn conversion in
Worksop.
Aaron Fountain, Director
of ADM Windows, explains:
“When our customer came to
us they were clear what they
wanted: high quality windows
with frames that would retain
the heritage feel of their
barn’s original timber frame
windows.”
As a long-term Spectus
fabricator, Aaron knew he could
deliver what was required.
“I showed them pictures of
the Spectus Flush Casement
windows and we took it from
there,” he said. The Flush
Casement offered everything
the homeowners were looking
for: windows that reflected
the looks of traditional 19th
century timber casement
windows but with the added
benefits of 21st century security,
thermal efficiency and low
maintenance.
To match the barn’s timber,
the windows were manufactured
with an Agate Grey exterior and
white foil interior. “The Agate
Grey was an almost perfect
match with the original timber
windows,” explains Aaron. Black
monkey tail handles completed
the period look.
Aaron concludes: “Our
customer wanted modern
solutions that still maintained
the character of their home
and with the Spectus Flush
Casement windows that is
exactly what we have done.”
