many years, suffered from a poor reputation,
the high performance and aesthetically
pleasing Sarnafil single ply membrane is now a
popular choice for homeowners.
Drainage and maintenance are always
main concerns when it comes to a flat
roof. Traditionally, flat roofs have had a
reputation for being difficult to weatherproof
but products such as the Sarnafil single ply
membrane guarantee longer lifespans and
durability. Ideally, all flat roofs should have
a low (slight) fall to allow rainwater to drain
from the roof. Part L Building regulations
states a minimum fall of 1:80. However,
particularly in refurbishment projects, this is
not always achievable. Modern PVC single
ply flat roofing, heat welded at every seam
and either mechanically or adhered (designed
in accordance with BS6399:Part 2) to the
underlying surface, can cope with standing
/ponding water without detriment to the
product or, with the Roof Assured by Sarnafil
single ply membrane, the guarantees. The fact
that the membrane is secured and adhered
to the roof structure also offers maximum
protection from wind uplift. Sarnafil takes full
responsibility for wind calculations on projects
over 100m 2 .
The product is thermally and dimensionally
stable. Surprisingly, flat roofs in this country
can reach +80°C to -20°C, which is a huge
shock to any product. Sarnafil is a stabilized
PV membrane not only engineered to form
a stable waterproof covering, its performance
is unaffected by expansion and contraction,
but also protects against damaging solar rays
and the very worst British weather. When the
sun does decide to shine, a titanium dioxide
top later provides optimum UV resistance and
solar reflectivity. Sarnafil is vapour permeable
to prevent blisters.
All laps, joints and details are permanently
welded for maximum strength. Usually weak
areas such as pipes, corners etc become strong
points with Sarnafil. Also steel reinforced
details and a unique seal copes with building
movement and guarantees a waterproof wall
joint, that will not crack or fail like traditional
mortar, lead or sealant. Sarnametal steel
reinforced edge trims are mechanically fixed
to form a solid, storm resistant roof edge. The
Sarnafil waterproofing is fusion welded to
the Sarnafil trim to permanently seal the roof
edge.
