Fond Farewell
The Glass and Glazing Federation( GGF) has said a fond farewell to Brian Baker, who has been the GGF’ s interim chief executive since the start of this year.

BRIAN’ S CONNECTION to the GGF goes back to 1983 when, as an employee of GGF Member Solaglas( now Glassolutions Saint-Gobain), he attended the GGF Laminators Group.
In the last ten years, Brian’ s involvement in the GGF and subsidiary companies has been instrumental, at one point with Brian being a regular contributor to over 25 GGF Specialist Technical Groups, Committees, Technical Working Parties and Regions( as Chairman and vice-chair) and as a Board director.
In 2014, Brian was elected GGF President and after his two year tenure, he then returned as interim President in the latter half of 2016.
In recent times, Brian has overseen many changes at the Federation including; the move
in October 2016 to the GGF’ s present offices in Southwark, the GGF Group’ s restructure and the setting up of the Helix Group as the umbrella company for the GGF’ s subsidiaries.
Brian commented,“ I am pleased that I leave the GGF in a very strong position.”

NEW PRODUCTION MANAGER APPOINTED

IN THE LATEST PHASE OF development, Conservatory Outlet has appointed a new production manager to oversee the fabrication plant based in Wakefield.
In keeping with growth plans at Conservatory Outlet for both people and infrastructure, Christopher Smith came into post on Monday 22nd May to drive forward operational standards within the 60,000 sq ft site in Thornes Lane Wharf.
Conservatory Outlet currently serves 24 retail partners across a UK- wide network. The Network has experienced a vast amount of growth in recent years, and the appointment of Christopher falls in line with the progression and development plans for the coming years, ensuring the delivery of quality products in an efficient manner to the ever-growing retail network.
Christopher has a strong background in plant management, with over 21 years’ experience, most of which spent at Timber Door Manufacturer Jeld-Wen, implementing a variety of initiatives such as value stream mapping, waste elimination and team involvement.
Christopher said,“ With the growth forecast across the network it’ s going to be a challenging role, but I am certain as a team we can implement the improvements needed to ensure we meet customer expectations.”

STOKE BASED WINDOW and door manufacturer, UK Window Systems welcomed a new face recently, with the appointment of Claire Heywood as Head of Business Development.
Claire’ s employment, takes place six-months after the Rehau and Residence fabricator saw the new owners’ take-over the company and strengthen its sales and marketing team, hiring Nick Holloway as Sales Director.
Claire successfully ran two businesses prior to joining
UK Window Systems, one of which sold internal and external doors to trade and residential customers, commenting, she said;“ Joining UK Window Systems is a fantastic opportunity for me. It’ s easy to see the potential the company has, and the new management team is working extremely hard to develop and drive the business forward for the customers and its employees.
Claire is responsible for developing and introducing ways to strengthen a better
‘ Customer Experience’ for UK Window Systems customers and will be spending her time; encouraging them to engage with new and existing products, share ideas on how to improve the company’ s overall performance and developing close working relationships with customers- inviting them to better utilise the company’ s trade counter, showroom and other onsite facilities.
