»»The glazing industry’s
national five aside football competition
GM Football Fives, which took place at
Birmingham City Football Club in early May,
has been hailed as a huge success.
Alan Sadler, Managing Director of Profix
and GM Fundraising team member explains:
“We’d like to thank everybody who helped
make the inaugural GM Football Fives such
a great success, in particular the 128 players –
with a notable mention to Malene Svendsen
from ERA who played fantastically, both
alongside and against all the male competitors
as the only female player.
“Congratulations to Travis Perkins, who
emerged as champions on the day, and a
great effort from MB Frames/Oakley Green
Conservatories for reaching second place, and
Glazerite – the most senior team on the day –
for achieving third place.
“As well as the tournament itself, other
prizes up for grabs at the presentation
ceremony in the evening included the Golden
Boot, which was shared by Ben Jeavons of
Travis Perkins, Matt Draper of Willmott
Dixon and Callum Willmot from MB Frames/
Oakley Green Conservatories, who scored six
goals apiece.
“Player of the Tournament as voted for by
the qualified referees – including ERA Home
Security CEO Darren Waters – also went
to Callum Willmot, who gained three votes
throughout the day. The Spinning Penalty
challenge provided a high proportion of the
laughs and was admirably won by Quickslide’s
Ben Lawrence.
“But the biggest presentation of the day
came before the tournament kicked off,
with the handing over to Hope House of the
cheque for funds raised at the Spring Ball,
which were in excess of £35,000.” Alan adds.
