CEO, MICK CLAYTON, GQA Qualification Limited, shares his thoughts and desires for GQA, and the industry for 2017 …
“ My wish this year, is to create activities that will help support our approved centre network throughout the UK, allowing them the opportunity to facilitate the best in training experiences with qualifications that make a difference.
“ We will be moving our business activities up-a-level during 2017 to improve overall opportunities for everyone; supporting the recognition of skills, training and development for the industry.
“ We will once again, manage the FIT Show 2017, Master Fitter Challenge. The competition is now in its fourth year and challenges the skills and professionalism of industry fitters.
“ Comprising of two days of trials at the show, entrants are given a telephone and onsite assessment prior to the event. The challenge is extremely tough, but allows installers to show off the skills they have gained as qualified installers- skills they use daily. And for the winner? The chance to be crowned Master Fitter 2017 with a cash prize of £ 5000.
“ Entries for the competition of individuals or teams are still being welcome up to the end of February.”

PIONEERING PROFESSIONALISM

HAVING WORKED FOR Supalite for almost three years, I can honestly say the company is now experiencing some exciting times, with the successful growth of our market leading tiled roofing system.
Consumers are much more clued up now-a-days to the type of products on offer in our market-place, in particularly how they can transform their cold / hot conservatories into an all-year round, usable room by adding a Supalite roof.
Our focus during 2017, will primarily be to offer our existing and potential customers who wish to install a Supalite solid roofing system, professional support in all areas of their businesses.
As a leading authority in our field, we will also be looking to pioneer a campaign of professionalism surrounding the fitting of solid roofing systems, working closely with authorities on training, standards and regulations to ensure the market is totally aware of the consequences of fitting inferior products.
For those companies who fabricate and feel they are missing an opportunity by not fitting a solid roofing system, we have numerous openings for fabricators in areas across the UK, and would like to give more fabricators the chance to join Supalite’ s Fabricator Network during 2017.

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM all the Truedor team at IG Doors. I think it is going to be a really good year. For us, we have the excitement of a brand new factory coming on line with some of the most technically advanced manufacturing machinery I have ever seen. It will add a whole new dimension to how composite doors are produced in the UK and we can’ t wait.
But the thing that really excites me is that we have seen a real shift in the last year in how consumers think about composite doors.
They are no longer distress purchases with security as the main driver; they are now genuine home-makeover products chosen pro-actively as a part of enhancing the home.
We saw a real sea-change when we introduced a vast range of new, modern colours supported by a promise to produce any colour a consumer might choose by using our bespoke paint plant to service their requests.
Composite doors really are now a genuine‘ choice’ for people thinking about enhancing their homes – a new door is now no longer just a functional product, it is a life-style product, and we look forward in 2017 to see this trend growing even further.
