The Future of Commercial Doors
»»For many years commercial
entrance doors for office and retail
developments have been available in
aluminium. Lightweight and sustainable
aluminium framed doors are easy to make,
strong, and can cope with high usage, but
their traditional looks can be a little dated. But
now, for the more prestige developments, there
is a new contender in the market.
Enter the MB-86 Frameless Leaf
commercial door from Aluprof. It takes the
inherent strength and sustainability from
a frame of aluminium but also caters for
bonded glazed units. The completed door
has beautiful, flush, clean lines and is perfect
for any commercial entrance application.
Available with or without threshold the MB86 Frameless Leaf commercial door can be
configured to open in or open out and can
be automated with some of the leading door
automatics.
Whilst high traffic doors tend not to benefit
greatly from high insulation levels within
the leaf or frame, the MB-86 Frameless
Leaf commercial door is designed with wide
polyamide insulation strips which benefit
heat retention when in the closed condition.
Using standard Euro style locks and hardware,
security can be configured to suit the client’s
exact requirements.

Ace Fixings invests in web development
»»Northern Ireland based Ace
Fixings Ltd is investing heavily in its website as
it approaches its 40th anniversary.
The company is an independent distributor
and stockist of fixings and professional power
tools from brands such as Bosch, Makita,
Panasonic, Paslode, Milwaukee and Ryobi,
but getting its own brand noticed is now
increasingly important, says web development
manager Mark Ritchie.
Mark took over development of the website
in March this year and although there has
been a 30-40% increase in sales since then he
is keen to do much more. The company has
signed up to a Google shopping function and
it showed that Ace Fixings came top of the list
when, for example, doing a Google search for
a product like shot fire nails.
He explained: “Google runs a script feed
of images which is basically a way to get your
website and products in front of a specific
audience you want to reach. The images are
important as most people now will click on an
image first rather than text.
“Our website has been up and running for a
number of years but it’s a work in progress. We
are now trying to put figures against what will
make it more successful, and we’re doing more
e-mail marketing to direct people to the site.
We are also improving delivery and service and
have recently launched new products like a
couple of new gas nail guns.”

The business stocks a huge range of tools
and equipment including cordless drills,
screwdrivers, SDS Plus and SDS Max
hammers, gas, air and shot fire nailers,
grinders, sanders, planers, saws and routers.
It can also service and repair all leading
brands of power tools and is notable for its
robust and environmentally friendly policies
towards disposal of unwanted electrical
equipment.
Mark added: “We are a well-established
company with more than 10,000 different
products. At the moment, some of our better
known brands are moving well in terms of
sales but as a company it’s important to us
that we get our own brand out there more as
well. Going forward we will be running more
campaigns to do that.”
