DOORS&WINDOWS
The first steps towards
being automated
»»Cotswold Architectural
Products has rolled out a major capital
investment that will enhance its production
capabilities.
At its headquarters in Cheltenham,
Cotswold invested £170,000 in the
automation of a flow-line, a major statement
as the company opted to do this rather than
outsource this part of the production process
to a different country.
Alongside keeping and creating more
skilled manufacturing jobs at its production
base, the move will also increase Cotswold’s
productivity and allow it to increase capacity
by 15%.
In the long term, it is the first step to
introduce more automation on to the
factory floor and to one day introduce a fully
automated factory.
Since it was acquired by the Caldwell Group
in early 2014, Cotswold has embarked on a
major investment programme which has seen
a factory shake-up as well as the introduction
of thousands of new hardware products.
The most recent is Cotswold’s new
dedicated solution for POV (parallel opening
vents) on PVCu windows. Called the ‘Sinidex’
parallel stay, it fits into existing PVCu profile
with a 17mm cavity.

Productivity
»»Fast-growing Dekko Window
Systems has become of one the UK’s first trade
fabricators to invest in a state-of-the-art SL4FF
Seamless Quad Welder from Italian machinery
manufacturer Graf Synergy, announcing its
intention to launch an exclusive new window
and door range this year.
Sales director Kurt Greatrex comments:
“The Seamless Quad Welder provides a
completely new way to manufacture window
and door frames. Not only will we improve
our productivity by up to 200%, but we can
produce a stronger corner weld and quite
sumptuous finish that I’m sure will prove
popular in the higher end of the market.”
“We’ve had a fantastic few years at Dekko
– growing massively off the back of increased
demand for Residence 9, and creating a
social media sensation with the enigmatic
teaser publicity campaign that preceded the
launch of Räum,” said Kurt. “Last year, we

also opened our new 55,000 square foot
manufacturing facility in Ashton-Under-Lyne,
giving us the infrastructure to continue our
growth into the future.”
Dekko was recently announced as a
Construction Marketing Awards finalist,
making the shortlist in the Best Use of Press
and Public Relations category for the launch
of Räum.

The
Revival
»»Back in the 1960s and ‘70s,
many householders bought new aluminium
windows that were fitted into hardwood
timber surrounds, creating a distinctive
‘mullioned style’ window that enhanced
and insulated their home. Such installations
are now ripe for replacement, but many
owners are reluctant to lose the familiar
look, style and kerb appeal of the original
designs.
Now innovators Whiteline have gone
back to the future to create another
industry first, the Revival Hybrid window.
The new models revive the looks of the
past and add in today’s technology, with
PVCu framing and durable aluminium
windows, for great looks, performance and
value for money.
Whiteline’s unique multi-chamber
85mm Revival window frame replicates the
appearance of mortise and tenon timber,
with the transoms and corners all sturdily
mechanically jointed. Their in-house built
‘odd leg’ alu window system, configured
to the owner’s needs, fits snugly into the
frame.
Furniture and decorative finishes can be
skilfully used to create distinctive designs,
inside and out, using foils, finishes or RAL
colour coating. The end result creates a
co-ordinated look for the home with the
assurance that it will be an efficient, low
maintenance solution for many years to
come.
