Big Moves in Place for Aluminium Division
»»Hardware specialist
VBH has invested £250,000
expanding its distribution facility
in Kent.
The new storage facility,
in Gillingham which will be
completed in spring 2016 will
enable VBH to carry an additional
800 pallets of fast moving stock.
The company has also made a
change to its warehouse layout,
set to be implemented at the same
time and designed to speed up
goods-in and out processes and
improve picking accuracy.
The creation of the additional
storage capacity and the associated
warehousing efficiencies has also
led to a decision to incorporate
VBH’s specialist Architectural
Aluminium division, currently
situated in Birmingham.
VBH (GB) Managing Director
Peter Rowlands said: “The
Gillingham expansion gives us
huge benefits in terms of capacity
and efficiency. Our Aluminium
division sends orders to customers
throughout the UK and the
added space makes it possible to

house all components under one
roof.”
VBH (GB) currently delivers
98.6% of order lines for catalogue
items on-time and in-full.
Of the relocation of the
Aluminium division, Peter
continues: “Relocating the
division to Kent was a decision
we did not take lightly due to the
inevitable job losses. However,
the restructuring is vital to enable
VBH to offer our customers in
the UK an even better service
now and longer term.”
