‘REVOLUNTIARY RANGE’ FOR
URBAN DOOR STYLING
» THE ABODA COLLECTION FROM
Rocal Group is a revolutionary range of
premium door panels, that have been carefully
developed with true urban design credentials
and by harnessing the latest materials.
Stephen Nadin, Managing Director of
Rocal Group commented: “The entrance
door market for panel doors still provides
a sizeable opportunity for companies who
are keen to retain their door manufacturing
facilities and with the latest CoolSkin door
skins, reinvigorate the door panel sales with a
product with proven long-term performance.
Ultimately, the ABODA Collection will
provide fabricators and installers with an
opportunity to offer a next generation door
panel to their portfolio.”
The evolutionary range features high
performance PVCu door skins for
outstanding long-term performance, whatever
the climatic conditions. There are 16 designs
in the range with nine different finishes
for the standard ABODA series, along
with a further 20 finishes available in the
striking STEE-AL collection. The STEE-AL
collection within ABODA introduces a flush
316 grade stainless steel glazing system, while
the standard range harnesses a new slimline
variant. There are also a number of glass
options from the Baroque, Metro, Ornate
and Principal ranges.

900 CASEMENTS MEET GROWING
HOUSING DEMAND IN GLASGOW
» AS DEMAND FOR AFFORDABLE
housing in and around Glasgow is growing, a
brownfield site, formerly the home of the NHS
Orchards hospital was acquired by Keepmoat
Homes for the development of the 82 two-
and three-bedroom homes in seven different
styles. The contract for 900 Optima casement
windows and French doors on the homes was
awarded to Glasgow-based Profile 22 Approved
Window Contractor Gold Seal Windows.
Optima is the award-winning 70mm
system for Profile 22. Its casement windows
are available in sculptured and chamfered
variations. Aesthetically, Optima casement
windows offer improved sightlines and a higher
glass-to-frame ratio. The system meets all
requirements for thermal efficiency as standard
and offers a wealth of intelligent design features.
And double and triple glazing options mean
thermal efficiency can be enhanced to meet
a project’s specified standards, up to and
including 0.8 W/m²K or A++.
Thanks to careful project management
and effective communication, the Gold Seal
Windows’ installation team was able to install
all 900 units on time and on budget.

“They work and feel
so much better”
» CREWE-BASED AURORA
Windows has no problem putting
Apeer and Lumi doors next to
cheaper alternatives, as co-director
Chris Upton explained: “It’s very
easy for any door retailer to offer
the same as everyone else and
probably do OK out of it. But we
want to be better than that.”
Aurora first looked at Apeer
because it had a 70mm door that

other suppliers couldn’t match.
“Once we had it, we began to see
how different it was in they way it
handled and we saw the customers
were noticing it too,” adds Chris.
The Lumi system is even more
of a differentiator for Aurora so it
almost goes without saying that
Chris is looking very seriously
at extending the offer to include
Lumi2 as well as Apeer’s new
smooth-skin Silka door, as he
explained: “Lumi really is unique,
something no other company
nearby can match and the way
people are drawn to it in the
showroom makes that very clear,
and because showroom visitors
are looking for retrofit, the Lumi2
system would fit in very well.”
