PROUD SPONSOR OF INDUSTRY NEWS INDUSTRYNEWS GREEN DEAL CONSULTATION » » THE GLASS AND GLAZING Federation (GGF) has responded to the recent consultation into Green Deal reform, calling for greater flexibility for consumers and installers to help simplify and improve the scheme. The GGF emphasised that the disappointing number of glazing installers involved in Green Deal was a consequence of a costly and resource intensive accreditation process. The response stressed that the level of finance available to consumers under the scheme was often not enough to purchase glazing products in tandem with other measures. The GGF pointed out that for some energy efficiency measures, the Golden Rule in its current form is not a workable framework for promoting a ‘Whole House Approach’ to energy efficiency. With the new Each Home Counts (EHC) framework also expected next year, the GGF recommended that installers should be exempt from the need for formal Green Deal status, if they can prove membership of a recognised certification scheme, which may include approved status under EHC or a UKAS accredited certification scheme. The GGF underlined that the introduction of these reforms would allow installers to avoid additional red tape, reduce confusion amongst consumers and support the Government’s objective to simplify the Green Deal. http://www.ggf.org.uk SPONSORSHIP KEEPS ACADEMY DANCING » » STRICTLY COME DANCING may almost be over for another year, but the show must go on for the folks at North Leeds Dance Academy (NLDA). To help keep them warm before, during and after rehearsals, Morley Glass & Glazing has funded new personalised hoodies for the team featuring the new NLDA logo. An award-winning Ballroom and Latin Dance Academy, NLDA offers everything from beginners’ ballroom classes to Zumba parties and wedding dance tuition. Recently, the Academy worked in partnership with Variety to bring the children’s charity’s Strictly Ballroom charity event to life. NLDA dance instructor Olivia Choi was partnered with Morley’s own Ian Short for the event, which saw them romp home to victory following an expertly executed samba. The evening itself raised almost £14k to help Variety continue its charitable work; over 200% of their target! Ian comments: “The team at North Leeds Dance Academy never stop, their passion for dance is infectious and they’ve even inspired me to continue competing in future dance events. We’re delighted to be able to help them continue their mission to get everyone in North Leeds dancing.” https://www.morleyglass.co.uk BESST IN CLASS » » EPWIN WINDOW SYSTEMS HAS won the Sustainable Business Award from Business Environmental Support Scheme Telford (BESST) 2017, for Carbon and Energy Management. 22 » F EB 2018 » CL EARVI E W- UK .
