NEW LONDON TRADE CONFEX FOCUSED ON MATERIALS

»»
MATERIALS 2017 IS THE new conference and exhibition focused entirely on the cuttingedge of material solutions for architecture, construction, and design. Offering a unique opportunity for architects, specifiers, and developers to meet face-to-face, engage in social conversation, and expand business relationships with top materials manufacturers, this event is a must-visit for all industry professionals.
Held at the ILEC Centre, London on the 25 and 26 April 2017, Materials 2017 gathers leading construction professionals into one central venue, easily accessible via car or public transport. What’ s more is that Materials 2017 is completely free to attend for delegates and competitive prices are available for sponsor and exhibitor packages.
A wide range of products- from ceramics, cement, stone, brick, and timber to glass, concrete, metal, and smart materials- will be featured, looking not only at their use in creating striking designs but also at alternative functionalities beyond their common purposes within building structures, envelope, façades and finishes. Seminar speakers from a number of the industry’ s biggest actors have been confirmed to include names from Aecom, Arup, Tata Steel, and Saint- Gobain. The three conference areas at Materials 2017 provide huge potential for knowledgesharing in a highly tailored and intimate environment.
Serving as the ideal incubator for product sharing and procurement Materials 2017 will also be the home to a Meet
the Buyers platform, where 24 desks will be dedicated entirely to discussing, negotiating, and, ultimately, closing deals. These desks will be available to sellers on a daily or bi-daily basis at highly modest and attainable prices.
Event Director David Schindler said:“ Architects and contractors need to consider the form, space and light of buildings, and in order to create these with optimal design and efficiency they need to specify the best possible materials for the structures and facades of buildings.
“ Materials are developing so fast in terms of innovation, sustainability, and performance, it is vital that materials specifiers have the best possible and most up-to-date information to guide their design and construction techniques. This is the case both in terms of the educational content in the conferences and seminars at Materials 2017, but also engaging directly with the product manufacturers within the exhibition.”

ECOBUILD RETURNS IN March with an overarching theme of regeneration, which will be brought to life through an immersive exhibition and conference programme that will redefine sustainability, identify future growth sectors and tackle the housing crisis.
This year’ s show will see Ecobuild transformed into a‘ city’ – complete with a main street, distinct destinations and special feature attractions. Central to the experience will be Regeneration Drive, a boulevard running through the centre of the exhibition floor, linking different aspects of the show.
The Arena will be home to the Ecobuild Conference, staging a range of speeches from industry thought leaders and innovators across the three days.
Key speakers will include Lord Kerslake, Local Government Association and former head of the civil service and permanent secretary at the DCLG; Julia Park, Head of Housing Research at Levitt Bernstein and Dr Diana Montgomery, Chief Executive at Construction Products Association. The conference sessions will range from focusing on addressing the housing crisis to the evaluation of offsite construction.
The show’ s sustainability hub, City Hall, will be home to the UK-GBC and World Green
Building Council, representing the culmination of Ecobuild’ s Redefining Sustainability campaign – which seeks to create an industry-wide understanding of sustainability objectives and drives, and a clear direction for the future.
The Gateway is where visitors can explore national and community infrastructure projects in partnership with ICE( Institution of Civil Engineers), as well as a separate theatre dedicated to Green Infrastructure. The Performance Lab, with building performance and energy content produced in partnership with CIBSE, Ecobuild’ s Building Performance Partner, will focus on Smart Home and Smart Building technology.
In response to the increased Government and industry focus on offsite construction, Ecobuild has partnered with Explore Offsite to bring a significant showcase of the exciting opportunities offered by offsite technology in the future of construction. A series of daily masterclasses will be taking place at the event, with housing minister Gavin Barwell MP due to look at ways to utilise offsite technology to build 100,000 modular homes in a white paper over the course of this Parliament, in a bid to solve the UK housing crisis.
