Annual
Conference
Celebrations
»»National Plastics’ annual
company conference at Celtic Manor Resort
on 9th January 2016 was a mixture of fun and
business with an overall message of celebration
following another successful year for the UK’s
largest independent trade counter network.
Over 100 representatives from National
Plastics’ depots attended the day’s events and
many of them were joined by partners for the
gala dinner in the evening, when the numbers
swelled to nearly 200.
The gala dinner was the culmination of
the day’s events and it celebrated the highest
achieving depots in the network.
The highest growth depot was awarded to
the Cheltenham depot. The award for the
highest sales went to the Swansea depot. The
highest profit contribution was by the Pyle
depot. The highest average sales were in the
depots from Wales. The prestigious Depot of
the Year was awarded to the Portsmouth depot
with the runner up being Swansea. The biggest
prize of the day was the draw to win a brand
new Ford Fiesta 1.2 car
Throughout the day, there were plenty of
opportunities to relax and celebrate. There was
a Scalextric competition and a golf competition.
One key supplier, Floplast, ran a competition to
win a 40” television, which was won by Craig
Bailey from National Plastics’ Tamworth store.
‘a mixture of fun and
business with an overall
message of celebration’
National Plastics’ company conference is an
opportunity for the company to thank its staff
and suppliers – and there has been plenty to
thank them for in recent years.
No claim, no fee!
»»Sliders UK has said that it
hasn’t received a single claim against its £500
Security Guarantee and market-leading
Secured by Design Range in the last six
years.
Of the more than 300,000 high security
inline sliding and bi-folding doors supplied
by its customers to homeowners since 2009,
the door specialist says it is not aware of
a single break-in attributable to product
performance.
Ian Longbottom, chairman, Sliders UK,
said: “We launched our Security Guarantee
in 2008, which we offer against our Secured
by Design Ultimate Range of inline sliding,
bi-folding and composite doors.
“We created it as a retail sales tool for
our customers. It’s a pretty compelling
retail message; as long as it’s fitted correctly
and the break-in can be attributed to the
manufacture of the product, excluding
glass, we’ll offer the homeowner up to £500
towards repair, replacement and the cleanup.”

He continued: “To date, we haven’t
had a single claim, which is a pretty
strong consumer message from us as the
manufacturer – the odds of our SBD
doors failing are tiny but if they do we’re
committed to putting it right.”
Sliders UK became the first manufacturer
of an inline sliding door to achieve the
Secured by Design accreditation in 2008 three years ahead of its nearest rivals.
This features six-point ‘pincer action’
hook locking and unique Fab & Fix
security handle, which, manufactured from
a robust zinc die-cast material, features
built-in cylinder protection and a uniquely
chamfered 32mm back plate, designed to
provide maximum stability and resistance to
attack.
This, along with the latest versions of
Sliders ‘Ultimate’ composite doors, PVCu
and aluminium bi-folding doors, were tested
to the new and much tougher PAS24:2012
standard, gaining approval in November
2014.
