doors Alfresco Style »»For the last few months, Synseal’s new WarmCore aluminium folding sliding door system has been undergoing extended extreme weather testing in Portugal along with structural strength and enhanced security testing which has been carried out by UKAS testing laboratories, with both tests regimes yielding excellent results. A 5-sash WarmCore unit was installed in an outdoor location in Lisbon, Portugal back in July 2014 and this continental climate exposure testing programme will continue indefinitely to prove the technical performance of the aluminium framing in association with the innovative 3rd generation thermal break. Late summer test results in September recorded an ambient temperature of 40°C immediately adjacent to the test rig and an external aluminium frame temperature of 71°C, the severity of which surprised the Synseal test engineers. The WarmCore folding sliding door continued to function perfectly with dimensional stability of sash and frames unaffected by these extreme temperatures. ‘sash and frames unaffected by these extreme temperatures’ Phil Parry, Synseal’s Head of Research & Development, comments: “We selected Portugal because we knew the local weather cycles with hot days and often chilly nights would create some extreme fluctuations and really test our new frame technology over an extended period of time.” For further information, visit www.sysnseal.com Proving the Market Wrong TWR Bifolds, part of the TWR Group, ended 2014 on a high and has a full order book going into 2015 after launching as a dedicated bi-fold business in 2014. »»The Palmer Market Research domestic glazing report revealed that this market fell by 7% over 2013, but Terry Richardson, Managing Director of TWR Bifolds, says the company’s bi-fold division has seen month on month growth in sales of bi-folding doors, with no signs of this slowing down. Terry comments: “Although demand has decreased in the domestic market according to reports, bi-folds are still going strong and we are seeing rising demand here. Opportunities for commercial installations are also increasing as this sector gears back up for growth following a stagnant few years in recession.” 48 » F EB 2015 » CL EARVI E W- UK .
