INDUSTRYNEWS Warm Edge for Windows Helping Passivhaus dreams come true »»A spectacular home in Ireland is one of the first Passivhaus rated energyefficient homes in the country that has exploited the use of large areas of glass. One particularly striking feature is the amount of natural wood on top of a storey made almost entirely of glass. The kitchen is housed in a floor-toceiling glass corner and ensures optimum light and view. Reynaers at Home’s aluminium windows and doors were used, as these allow for large swathes of glass within slim frames. The CP 155-HI sliding glass doors can go up to an impressive 3m in height. Designed by Architects Peter Legge Associates in Dublin and Fabricator Phoenix Aluminium Ltd, this home welcomes in maximum light, thanks to the large expanses of glass on opposing walls which offer unobstructed views. CP 155 has inherent strength, which makes it possible to offer these very large dimensions – up to 3m in height and a maximum vent weight of 400kg. Thanks to the ‘High Insulation’ upgrade, the system can achieve superior insulation levels down to 1.07 W/m2K (Uf value). This results in a glazed element with insulation values lower than 1.0 W/m2K, allowing the CP 155-HI system, which is certified with a Minergie label, to be used in low-energy buildings.
