MACHINERY
“Allows fabricators to compete at every level”
» LEADING MACHINERY
experts Haffner Murat has
reported a surge of new business
interest in the Adir C CNC
machining centre from FOM
Industrie. Haffner Murat’s
Managing Director Dave Thomas
said: “We recently announced
that we would be supplying state-
of-the-art aluminium machinery
from Fom Industrie and we have
been delighted with the interest
we have received for the Adir C
machining centre. The CNC
machining centre is a 3-axis
controlled unit and has been
perfectly designed to add value
to every fabricator’s set up, so
we are not surprised its proving
popular.”
The machine’s credentials are
particularly impressive with CNC
controlled axis linear guides
for precision machining. The
Adir C is fully guarded with a
pneumatically controlled front
guard for ease of loading the
material. There is an option of
a 5 or 6 position tool holder for
manual or automatic change
operation and pneumatic rotation
of the work table achieves angles
of 0°, 90° and 180°. The machine
has four pneumatic vices with
dual working pressure for quick
and accurate profile clamping.
It all adds up to a machine that
transforms speed and efficiency
on the fabrication floor.
Despite the machine’s
specifications it has been designed
to be easy to use. There’s touch
screen control and all operations
can be controlled automatically
using FOMCAM software.
Like all Haffner Murat
machines it comes with the
reassurance of expert installation
and full training so it can start to
deliver return on investment from
day one. Finance packages are
available subject to status and part
exchange is an option.
Dave commented: “The
Adir C Machining centre gives
fabricators what they need in the
current market. It’s a machine
that speeds up production and
improves quality and is extremely
user-friendly. And with the
current growth for aluminium
products it’s a machine that allows
fabricators to compete at every
level.”

‘EXCEPTIONAL AUTOMATION
IN ALUMINIUM PROCESSING’
» EARLIER THIS YEAR, FOM
unveiled the FMC 470 CNC machining
centre, which brings new levels of flexibility
and efficiency to aluminium processing
through a highly automated process and rapid
machining.
Launched in the summer, the new FMC
470 (7m) and 440 (4m) platforms employ
cutting edge innovation in programming and
automated tooling change to deliver rapid and
high volume aluminium CNC machining.
This includes the capacity to machine
profile of up to 230X250mm and with a
7Kw liquid cooled electrospindle, delivering
a maximum rotation of 20000 RPM, steel at
thickness of up to 2mm thick.
Paul Yeo, Sales Manager, Promac Group
explains: “The FMC 470 is a very advanced
aluminium CNC with the potential to
complete very complicated tasks at volume,
requiring minimum input from the operative.
If you look at the market for aluminium, you
don’t just need to be manufacturing curtain

walling to need capacity to
manufacture at larger scale.
“The FOM FMC 470 gives
you capacity to process bar
length for the most complex
designs in aluminium and at
incredible speed.
“You get very impressive machining depth
ideally suited to large scale applications, for
example curtain walling and features advanced
parametric programming, which allows you to
drill and rout any geometrical shape.”
The machining head supports working
of the profile on four axes: three sides plus
the two ends. With an automatic bar length
machining device, it automatically detects
the length of the profile and optimizes
positioning, automatically clamping it.
It also features two automatic and one fixed
pneumatically controlled bar positioning
stops, with an optional fourth, to support
simultaneous working of up to four bar
lengths.
In addition to impressive 7Kw
torque, which remains constant
regardless of machining tools being
used or RPM they are run at, the FOM FMC
470 features an 8-tool fixed tool magazine
and 9-tool magazine on the CNC head. The
FOM FMC 470 also features the machinery
manufacturer’s patented X Flow lubrication
system, which automatically directs the
orientation of lubrication nozzles according to
the tool being used.
The patented base has been designed to
optimise collection of chips and waste, while
ergonomically designed protective casing
guarantees visibility during machining, while
a push button strip and user-friendly console,
simplify operation.
