PROUD SPONSOR OF INDUSTRY NEWS INDUSTRYNEWS MESSAGE FOR 2020? “JUST WATCH THIS SPACE” » THIS JULY, UL, A GLOBAL SAFETY science leader, announced the acquisition of Wintech Testing and Certification. At the time, Wintech’s former MD and newly appointed European BDM commented: “Clients can rest assured that customer service and technical quality will remain our top priorities, and that our newly integrated capabilities will deliver even more value.’’ Clearview caught up with the team six months later to see how it’s all going… 2019 has been quite an eventful one for Wintech T&C - can you explain to the readers what has happened with regards to the UL acquisition earlier in the year, and what’s been happening at Wintech HQ since then? It’s almost as if everything and nothing has changed. We still have the same staff, offer the same services to our customers, but now we are part of a global leader in safety testing, we can offer further opportunities for our customers to differentiate their product from the competition. For anyone who missed the initial UL press release and 7 things article in Clearview a few months ago, what are the main points of the acquisition please? UL and Wintech Testing and Certification have a shared mission and complementary businesses. We are relied upon by the building materials community for the services and knowledge, that they need to enhance public safety, meet regulatory demands, protect brand value and successfully access the global market. How would you describe the previous 12 months / 6 months at Wintech? The previous six months have been a rush. In many ways, the day to day running of the business has stayed the same, but we are now working with a wider team to integrate our service offerings with UL’s. Keeping communication open to our staff and customers has been key throughout. What would be the main changes and similarities between Dec 2018 at Wintech and Dec 2019 at Wintech? Not much is going to change, operationally speaking, however our customers will benefit from a wider range of testing and certification services. What will be the focus for 2020? The focus for 2020 is to expand on our current service offerings throughout the UK and Europe. Our customers now have access to wider markets through UL’s test labs across the UK & Europe.
