PVCu Category Director
= Pivotal New Role
Richard Lee
» » AS POLYFRAME
approaches the end of its
busiest year in history, the
business is looking forward to
an outstanding 2019 with the
appointment of Richard Lee into
the newly-created role of PVCu
category director.
Polyframe – a leading supplier
of branded PVCu products – is
now implementing a string of
important developments to
enhance the customer experience
and make the business even easier
to work with. The appointment
of Richard, who was formerly
managing director at Polyframe’s
Halifax site, has bolstered the
talented leadership team and
heralds the beginning of an
exciting new strategy for the
business.
Richard is based at Polyframe’s
145,000 square foot production
site in Halifax and brings more
than 35 years of PVCu industry
experience to the position. He
will spearhead a number of new
developments across all processes
which, along with an industry-
leading product mix, includes
quoting, ordering, delivery and
after sales care. This will ensure
that the business provides the very
best experience for its customers
at every stage.
Polyframe has recently
increased the headcount of
fabricators at its two largest sites
in Halifax and Norwich by 25%
to satisfy increased demand
and maintain its position as
the UK’s leading fabricator of
multi-system PVCu windows,
doors and conservatories. The
business has also made significant
investments in infrastructure and
equipment to further align all
four production sites and enable
them to deliver consistently high
levels of quality and service.
With Richard taking on new
challenges, Phil Gray has become
the new managing director of
Polyframe Halifax. Phil, who
has many years’ experience in
the industry and joins Polyframe
from the Epwin Group, is also
based in Halifax.
These new developments,
along with offering a choice
of five market-leading profiles
from REHAU, VEKA, Halo,
Duraflex and Eurocell, show
that Polyframe is dedicated to
helping all customers to make
the most of their PVCu business.
With multiple profiles from one
supplier, unrivalled marketing
support and dedicated account
managers, installers can rapidly
expand their product ranges and
achieve sustainable growth.

39 STEPS (TO SUCCESS) IN SIX MONTHS
» » RECRUIT, RETAIN, REPEAT.
This is the mantra it would
seem bosses at award-winning
manufacturer Quickslide have
lived by for the last six months,
after successfully taking on 39 new
members of staff since April.
Applicants who showed a
natural aptitude for integrity
alongside their own practical
skills have filled positions in all
areas of the company, including
three sales account managers
and 26 fabricators. The cohort
is a combination of individuals
both from within, and outside of
the industry – a deliberate move
in a quest to ensure continuous
improvement.
Managing Director Ben Weber
explained: “Bringing in so many
new faces could have been a
challenge, but our employees
have settled into life at Quickslide
brilliantly. It was a conscious
decision to look for individuals who
aren’t so familiar with glazing, as
in many cases it is the transferrable
skills and personalities, not their
knowledge, which makes them
compatible. In order for us to
continually move forward and
remain one of the leading providers
of our products, it’s important that
we consider how the team blends
together and where strengths lie.”
Among those joining
Quickslide is Sandra Berg, a
former employee who took time
out of her marketing role to
travel. Returning as Marketing
Manager, she is responsible for
upholding the brand credentials
of Quickslide, and maintaining
a two-way dialogue between
the company and its installer
customers which communicates
the great service and quality
they have come to expect: “I
missed Quickslide while I was
away. I feel like I’m not just
employed by them, but by all
our customers, too. Now I’ve
come back into the fold, the
goal is to continue building up
the trusted relationship we have
with our Quickslide community
and supporting their unwavering
expertise.
“People are the foundation of
Quickslide, and its reputation.
The employees shape the culture
and they are the ones who
must act in alignment with our
philosophy to keep it alive for
years to come. I haven’t met all of
the new people yet, but hopefully
they already feel the same sense
of workplace family that the rest
of us do.”
