PROUD SPONSOR OF GLASS & SEALED UNITS EXTRA Glass & Sealed Units Extra Glazing begins at home » » INTEGRAL BLINDS manufacturer Morley Glass & Glazing has installed 84 sealed units with integral blinds inside into its own business premises. Morley Glass & Glazing made the £1M move to a new factory, showroom and office space in Leeds, West Yorkshire, two years ago and has made several improvements to the two-storey premises during that time, including the replacement of all the windows - 113 m 2 of glass in total. Ian Short, managing director of Morley Glass & Glazing said: “Our Uni-Blind sealed units with ScreenLine integral blinds inside are ideal for residential and commercial premises. They are our primary product and we are totally committed to showcasing our full range and demonstrating that we’re the biggest and most trusted brand in the industry. So why wouldn’t we fit our own product range into our premises? We strive to give our customers the best product with the best service – and we wanted to treat ourselves in the same way. The result looks amazing.” Two types of operating systems have been installed: 42 C Systems, which are manual cord operated and 42 MB systems, which are electronic motorised blinds. All feature Technoform warm edge spacer bars for thermal efficiency and utilise the Smart Aluminium curtain walling system and COOL-LITE SKN176 II solar control glass from GLASSOLUTIONS. Morley Glass & Glazing is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and has 80% share of the ScreenLine integral blinds market in the UK. The specialist manufacturer has a unique relationship with Pellini Spa in Italy, who manufacture the ScreenLine range, and is the only UK company to guarantee its customers deliveries in just 10 days. www.morleyglass.co.uk New lab accelerates innovation » » WARM-EDGE EXPERT EDGETECH IS gearing up for future innovation with the opening of a new research laboratory. Situated at the company’s Coventry headquarters, it’s been built to enable Edgetech to develop new products, assist customers in meeting accreditation and compliance requirements, and generally distribute technical expertise more widely throughout the company. Thanks to parent company Quanex, Edgetech is already blessed with world-class testing facilities in Akron, Ohio – but this is the first time the firm has had the capacity to develop products independently in the UK. “The demands placed on IGU manufacturers are growing all the time,” comments Technical Development Manager Gary Shoesmith. “They’re caught in a squeeze between the increasingly stringent standards demanded of them by governments and regulators, and their customers and end-users wanting exceptional performance for ever-more competitive prices. “On top of that, we’re seeing more and more volatility in the supply chain. Raw material prices have risen, sometimes quite substantially, in the wake of Brexit – and, most pressingly of all at the moment, the silicone shortage is causing headaches throughout the industry. “At Edgetech, we take these issues extremely seriously – and now, thanks to the new laboratory, I’m spending a significant amount of time and resources on helping our customers respond. “At the time of writing, I’m evaluating no less than five potential new products, capable of delivering the same outstanding performance the industry has come to expect from us, using materials that are more readily available.” Managing Director Chris Alderson comments: “This is a major milestone for Edgetech – and with it, we’ll be able to help our customers face up to the challenges of the modern marketplace better than ever before.” www.edgetechig.co.uk C L E A RV I E W-U K .
