HEADING WEST FOR
SENNEN PROJECT
» » FENSTER FABRICATION’S
best-in-class sliding door product
Üni_Slide has been used as
part of a high-end residential
development in Sennen,
Cornwall. The project is a
collaboration between esteemed
Brixham-based architect Stan Bolt
and noted interior designer Jill
Stein.
Üni_Slide is a premium-
quality aluminium sliding door
system, designed to balance sleek,
stylish looks with exceptional
all-round performance – while
still coming in significantly less
expensive than similar products
on the market. It’s capable
of achieving some impressive
dimensions, having passed a
security weather test of 2400
Pa on a door sash 3m tall and
2.2m wide, and doors can be
assembled in an unlimited run
of units.
In Cornwall, Üni_Slide ’s floor-
to-ceiling glass panes were used
to maximum effect in Stan Bolt’s
luxurious design, enhancing the
magnificent sea views afforded
by the property’s ultra-desirable
beachside location.
“We’re always pleased when
Üni_Slide gets specified,” said
the Üni_Slide team. “But we
were absolutely delighted to have
it incorporated in as stunning
a development as this one. I’m
a huge fan of Stan Bolt and
his work, and it’s an honour to
have played a part in one of his
projects.”

» » A FORMIDABLE
package has helped a Virtuoso
Doors installer smash all
targets and achieve an
incredible sales conversion
rate of 90% in composite
doors. Newcastle-upon-Tyne
based RLM Windows has
successfully increased sales of
composite doors by more than
75% and become one of the
largest installers of composite
doors in the region.
RLM Windows became a
customer of Virtuoso Doors
seven years ago and has
significantly increased the
number of doors it installs
with the support of Virtuoso
to sustain its growth.
RLM Windows’ showroom
displays 14 Virtuoso
composite doors. The
new Virtu-AL aluminium
textured, non-woodgrain
finish composite door will be
installed there soon. “When
customers see the range of
doors on display, they’re
impressed with the choice and
quality. They are like nothing
else out there and that’s why
90% of enquiries we receive
about composite doors convert
to sales,” adds Ricky.
RLM has achieved such
success with composite doors
in its heartland region, that
it is now planning to open a
second showroom in a new
territory. This showroom will
display Virtuoso composite
doors exclusively.

NEW WINDOWS HELP RETAIN
SCHOOL’S CHARACTER
» » FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL BID TO
the Education and Skills Funding Agency
Condition Improvement Fund, a prestigious
grammar school is reaping the aesthetic
and practical benefits of VEKA’s Matrix
70 windows, which have been installed
throughout the 85-year-old building. The

windows are PAS 24 and Secured by Design
compliant and able to achieve U-values as
low as 0.8 – combining security and thermal
comfort, with pleasing aesthetics.
When Wirral Grammar School for Boys
needed to modernise the windows on the main
school building, which was built in 1931, they
were faced with the task of finding windows
to suit the architecture, as well as help to
standardise the temperature throughout the
school and classrooms. VEKA stepped up to
the challenge, working with the architect and
surveyor Arcadis to specify over 200 windows,
which were then fabricated by Glazerite UK
Group.
VEKA’s Matrix 70 windows, manufactured
from PVC-U, helped to keep the design as
close as possible to the original Georgian bar
windows, while improving heat retention.
The windows now also push out, instead of
inwards as they did previously, allowing for
improved ventilation throughout the rooms of
the school.
