Spiralling together
Following significant structural change at the Glass & Glazing Federation( GGF), a number of core brands have banded together to comprise a dynamic new industry conglomerate in the form of Helix Group.
»»
PREVIOUSLY OPERATING as separate subsidiaries, each with their own remit and management; well-known companies such as FENSA, BFRC, GGFi and Borough IT now form part of the Helix family along with relative newcomers such as the inspection body RISA.
All of the companies will now have unprecedented access to shared resources, experience and knowledge. Together the individual companies and the Group itself can reap the rewards of continuing innovation and up-to-the-minute technology as well as decades of combined wisdom; thus exceeding what would have been possible as individual entities.
Helix Group Chief Executive, Jon Vanstone, commented:“ The organisations that comprise Helix Group already share values and objectives concerning consumer protection, raising standards and general advancement of industry.
“ In allowing these companies to maintain brand integrity whilst coming together under a shared banner; knowledge, ideas and experience can be extrapolated across the Group for the benefits of each company and associated customers.
“ Through this level of shared knowledge and skill, Helix Group will become much more than the sum of its parts.”

Housing market boost good news for building product suppliers
»»
FOLLOWING uncertainty around Brexit, the housing market has received a boost from the Government after Chancellor Philip Hammond revealed a £ 5 billion fund to support house building.
The move follows comments from Lord Turnbull, former head of the civil service, who highlighted the need for at least 200,000 new homes a year just to keep pace with housing needs.
Jade Greenhow, Operations Manager at Insight Data, who provide business data for the construction industry, welcomed the news:“ After a nervous few months following the referendum, many building product suppliers have stepped up their sales and marketing activity to win market share from competitors.
Under the plans, the Government will provide a £ 3 billion fund to help small family firms build more homes and a
separate £ 2billion loan fund will pay for further new homes by 2020 on surplus public sector land.
Insight Data provides detailed information on house-builders, main contractors and smaller building firms across the UK, with full contact details of decision makers. The full construction database contains over 30,900 named contacts and is available in real-time, using Insight Data’ s online software platform, Salestracker.

UP FOR THE CHALLENGE

MICK CLAYTON, CHIEF Executive, GQA Limited is no stranger to the quest of achieving success to create a more professional industry. So, it is of no big surprise that Mick also has the same attitude towards any pursuit he comes across in his personal life too.
Mick successfully, for a second year running, completed the challenging exploits of the Yorkshire Three Peaks in October, and in doing so raised a staggering £ 1,230 for Barnsley Hospice and Reds in the Community – a registered charity, delivering community and charitable activities on behalf of Barnsley Football Club.
The walk was organised by Barnsley Football Club, of which Mick is an avid supporter, through Kuta Outdoors. The Yorkshire Three Peaks consists of Pen-y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and sees some of the country’ s most beautiful countryside, encircling the head of the valley of the River Ribble.
After improving his finishing time on last years’ walk, Mick said:“ I completed the three peaks in 11 hours, an improvement of just under an hour on last years’ time. It was a fantastic achievement. I was determined to finish and raise the money for such worthy causes. I’ m dead chuffed with myself for not stopping,” Mick adds.
