HUNDREDS OF MPs CONTACTED
»»The Glass and Glazing
Federation (GGF) has written
to every Member of Parliament
who represents a GGF Member
in their constituency, to open
dialogue and create awareness of
the GGF’s campaigns ahead of
the political parties’ manifestos
for next year’s General Election.
In the letters, the GGF
underlined its position as the
leading authority and voice of the
industry and highlighted the five
main campaigns it is currently
working on including:
Reduced rate of VAT on
energy efficient products and on
home improvement, repair and
maintenance work and on energy
efficient windows.
Promoting and improving
energy efficiency schemes such
as the Green Deal and Energy
Company Obligation (ECO);
Working with the Department
for Business, Innovation and
Skills (BIS) to ensure that the
Consumer Bill of Rights works
in the best interests of consumers
and businesses;
Making a case, where fire
safety products are tested to the
correct specification and installed
and enforced correctly and in
particular fire resistant glazing
systems;
Addressing the impact of
the change of ownership of
private sewers to businesses and
consumers wishing to build
conservatories or extensions on
their properties.

»»The GGF has released four new and updated
publications to help and guide Members’, homeowners and the wider
construction industry. The new publications include;
The Quality of Vision
This new leaflet highlights the high standards that consumers
should expect when buying top of the range sealed units and offers
guidance for consumers to carry out a professional standard inspection
to ensure their sealed units achieve the expected high quality of
vision.
Low Emissivity Glass and its Visual Quality
GGF has produced a handy new leaflet to help consumers
understand how low emissivity glass can increase the energy efficiency
of their home.
The Right Glazing
in the Right Place
This Safety and Security
leaflet has been revised and
provides information on impact
performance of glass and safety
glazing in critical locations.
Narrow Cavity Insulating Glass Units
(IGUs) with Reduced Spacer-bar Sightlines
This new leaflet provides technical guidance to manufacturers and
specifiers of Narrow Cavity Insulating Glass Units (IGUs) with cavity
widths of 8mm or less and with reduced spacer-bar sightlines.

Backing the scheme
»»Glazerite Windows Limited,
one of VEKA’s largest fabricators of PVCu
windows, doors and conservatories has already
signed up its first 50 customers to The VEKA
UK Group’s Approved Installer scheme.
The initiative which has benefits for
homeowners, installers and fabricators has just
topped 100 Approved Installers in total, linking
Glazerite with a remarkable 50% of the overall
uptake.
