CAB WELCOMES 12 NEW MEMBERS IN 2019
» » CAB CEO JUSTIN RATCLIFFE
highlights membership growth and looks
back at a successful FIT Show 2019, against a
background of positive Q2 Survey results from
both CAB and RICS
The latest RICS Construction and
Infrastructure Market Survey (Q2) clearly
reinforces the results of the CAB State of
Market Survey (Q2); showing that the
construction industry is getting on with life,
as its patience with Brexit-related indecision
wears thin. The RICS Survey highlighted
increases in sales volumes/workloads by 25%
net balance with the CAB Survey reporting
52% net balance for Q2 and 52% and
57% forecasted for Q3 and the year ahead
respectively. Both surveys indicated increases
in capital investment in machinery/equipment,
with the CAB survey indicating 60% net
balance growth in the last year and 75% net
balance forecasted for the next 12 months.
Celebrating its 25th Anniversary in June
2019 – CAB was delighted to present plaques
to some of the most recent new members at
the FIT Show in May. These companies had
been drawn not only by the Association’s
proactive technical and marketing activities but
also by new recycling and training initiatives.
CAB has recently been joined by:
• Acorn Aluminium
• AOV (UK)
• Design Solution Business
• Epwin Window Systems
• Fentrade
• GlassHus Facades
• L P Window Controls
• MBE Glazing Services
• Presstek
• Soft Tech (England)
• United Anodisers
• Window Ware
While the marketplace has been affected by
political uncertainty, confidence has remained
which was backed up by the latest CAB State
of Market Survey for Q2, 2019 highlighting
that 63% net balance of members forecasted
sales growth over the next 12 months.
Crucially members have also indicated
confidence in increasing capital investment
over the same period. The Association looks
forward to working with so many market
leading companies and is delighted by their
early proactive engagement.

NEW RESIDENTIAL
WEBSITE LAUNCHED
Aluminium has always maintained a strong
presence in the commercial sector, but its market
share in residential/domestic applications in
recent years has grown steadily from 4-5% to
13-14% and is still rising. CAB has worked hard
to highlight this growth and launched a new
website residential-aluminium.org.uk at the FIT
Show. The aim has been to provide positive,
generic information about aluminium windows
and doors to allow our visitors to the site to make
informed decisions about their choice of material
for their windows and doors.
The website aims to guide visitors through
all the options they need to know about
aluminium windows and doors and provides
some key jargon busting explanations. Visitors
are guided carefully through the whole process
of choosing aluminium, what to ask for and
where to buy from. The vast array of product
types available is considered together with the
variety of finishes and colours.
Environmental issues and material
sustainability are top of many people’s agendas
when considering replacing their existing
FIT SHOW PAVILION SUCCESS
CAB was delighted by the excellent visitor
profile to the Aluminium Pavilion and the
position in the middle of Hall 20 worked well
overall for the 11 member stands.
On the CAB Lounge there was particular
interest amongst fabricators and installers in
the new training initiatives and the closed loop
recycling scheme (c-a-b.org.uk/pilot-scheme). In
all the FIT Show recorded over 10,000 visitors to
the NEC, Birmingham in May – a record level.
In total there were a record 34 CAB member
companies exhibiting at the Show and many
used the CAB lounge as additional meeting
space off their own stand. The Lounge area also
provided an important meeting and networking
point for other members visiting the show
and an opportunity to discuss a number of
technical, marketing and training issues with
the CAB Staff Team. It was clear from the
very opening of the Show that a number of
fabricators had targeted the CAB Lounge to
establish the benefits they could gain from
membership of the Association with a large
number of high-quality leads generated.
