PROUD SPONSOR OF INDUSTRY NEWS INDUSTRYNEWS A perfect partnership » » AT THE START OF 2016, THE FASCIA Place took the decision to stop buying in its windows and doors and to take control of its own production and supply. The company appointed experienced production manager Stuart Shearman to head up a brand new factory which, 18 months on, is producing more than 100 windows and doors a week; and supplying not just The Fascia Place’s 13 trade depots across the south but also its sister commercial company, RC Grant as well. What has been crucial to the success of the new venture has been the support of key suppliers including Liniar; in particular, hardware specialist Mila. Part of the reason why The Fascia Place chose Mila was because it provided the same combination of quality, value and service which the company’s depots aim to provide to their trade customers. Stuart Shearman had worked with Mila before and was confident that it would be the right partner for the start-up factory. He said: “We wanted a hardware supplier who would see the bigger picture of what we wanted to achieve and support us not just with competitive pricing but also with access to technical advice and even product testing. “Mila has been with us every step of the way so far and has delivered on every promise the team made. Through them, we get access to quality products at every price point to suit the trade and commercial customers we are supplying, and we have amazing service on deliveries. “More than that though, they’ve supported us with performance and security testing of our windows and doors and have even helped us to work alongside Liniar to get one of our 30-minute fire doors fully tested and accredited for our commercial customers.” The Fascia Place factory features highly automated machines to maximise productivity, and Mila has advised on the most efficient fabrication methods for products including its Evolution hinge and ProSecure door handle. Mila supplies all of the company’s hardware requirements, including some third party products by Yale which come with the same reassuring Mila guarantees on prompt delivery. ‘we get access to quality products at every price point to suit the trade and commercial customers’ The Fascia Place is already planning to expand, investing in a new factory and opening further new depots during the course of 2018. www.mila.co.uk 50 composite doors for police access training » » AWARD-WINNING composite door manufacturer Vista Panels has supplied the Police Service of Northern Ireland with 50 highly secure door blanks for access training. The Northern Ireland Police College will train its staff on how best to tackle the GRP entrance slabs with a variety of cutting tools. Like all Police forces across the UK, the PSNI on occasion need to gain quick entry into properties and the high-security make up of GRP composite doors can be a formidable and time- consuming barrier. “We are always happy to help the Police service as we understand the importance of them being able to gain access to properties as part of their duties. Whilst we design the doors to be of the highest security, the Police have at their disposal some specialist hardware that will allow their officers to get into the property,” comments Ian Smith, Sales and Marketing Manager at Vista. “It’s a real testament to the strength of composite doors that they are having to train with the materials in order to do this. GRP composite doors with high-security multi-point locks have created a fresh challenge for police forces as timber doors were much easier to get through. It is only right and forward-thinking that they would come directly to the leading manufacturer to carry 6 » AUG 2018 » CL EARVI E W- UK . Back in 2013, Vista supplied Greater Manchester Police’s access training facility with a number of full door sets to practise their own methods of gaining entry. The Manchester- based training centre found the experience hugely helpful and were so impressed with the door sets that some of their officers even had them fitted on their own properties. Founded in 1995, Vista specialises in composite doors and uPVC doors for both trade and home improvement markets. Based from the state-of-the-art factory in Merseyside, Vista supplies to fabricators across the UK and Europe. In 2016, Vista was acquired by Eurocell, one of the leading manufacturers of windows, doors, conservatories and roofline products. www.vistapanels.co.uk
