ANOTHER COMMERCIAL SUCCESS
STORY WITH TRIPLE-GLAZED RETROFIT
» » KENT-BASED ADEVA
Home Improvements has built
on its recent success in large scale
commercial window installation
with a triple glazing retrofit for
a sheltered housing scheme in
Whitstable.
Once again, the group praised
The Glazerite UK Group Ltd
and VEKA for their support
in specifying and completing
the contract, for 279 casement
windows in the VEKA 70mm
fully sculptured system finished in
white, at the 12-storey Windsor
House.
As with the previous
installation, VEKA supplied the
wind load calculations essential
for installations at such height,
with other technical support
by Glazerite, without which
Director Geoff Dwyer said the
company would not have had
the confidence to tender for the
work.
“They were with us all the
way when we had the chance of
our first large scale commercial
contract. That gave us the
confidence to continue our
activity in the sector and the
result was another success for
us with Windsor House. The
technical support from Glazerite
and VEKA was brilliant, the
clients are very pleased with the
result and we are already looking
at several more prospects.”

its fourth edition, the most recent revision

and Secretary of the (FRGG) explained, “This
Guide is an important document for the
construction industry and offers comprehensive
knowledge of Fire-Resistant Glazing. In
addition, the Guide addresses the performance
levels of Fire-Resistant Glazing, and how it
is vital to combine the appropriate materials
alongside the correct installation method to
certify a Fire-Resisting performance.”
tracks changes in legislation and incorporates
updates in line with constant product
development undertaken by the construction

INCLUSIVITY AND A WORLD-CLASS WORKFORCE
» » HOWARD TROTTER,
General Manager of Birmingham
window and door business
Shelforce, was among a select
group of experts invited to speak
on the future of the glazing sector
at The Glazing Summit.
“At Shelforce, we’ve benefitted
hugely from the in-built resilience
of disabled workers throughout
our long history,” comments
Howard. “They overcome bigger
obstacles every day than many of
us will face in a year – and that
means they’ve got a toughness
and a determination that’ll see
them through any business
or production issue in the
workplace.
“It’s our aim to encourage other
businesses to adopt our inclusive
approach – and I hope that, by
speaking about it at The Glazing
Summit, I was able to convince
some of the window and door
firms present to give it a try.”
