CHAMPIONING THE
NEEDS OF YOUNGSTERS
AND NEWCOMERS
With a wide spectrum of training
qualifications in its portfolio, Total
Support also provides a range of entry
level programmes for youngsters and
the unemployed. At last count, the
company had helped to deliver over
700 individuals at a Level 1 qualification
in the last six-years; increasing the
profile of the industry and opening
opportunities for more individuals.
The company has also recently become
one of the key supporters of Building
Our Skills, the first campaign of its
type to champion the issues of the
industry’s skills shortage and offer a
wider knowledge to youngsters and
newcomers of how to get involved.
5.
A COURSE FOR EVERYONE
Total Support recognises how much training can vary and change according to
the needs of individuals and employers. Offering customised solutions to training
is a key strength of the group; allowing clients to provide staff with more relative
training, important to their own businesses.
This type of training is only carried out after the client has been fully consulted
and all their development needs have been identified. The success rate for this
type of training has proved extremely fruitful for businesses, mainly due to the
personalised training and a key factor of how the staff associate better with
scenarios happening in their business.

THE FUTURE OF TRAINING
With the age of solar panels becoming ever-
so-more widely accepted, it was only a matter
of time before a qualification evolved. Total
Support is one of a small number of trainers
qualified to deliver the recognised NVQs to
train individuals.
The NVQ qualifications in Photovoltaic glass
enables businesses to qualify individuals in this
field. As acceptance grows for this product,
the scope of providing customers with the
reassurance that the installer fitting their
panels has a recognised qualification is one
which can expand the organisations business.
It’s also worth noting, Total Support delivers
the appropriate training required to enable
employees to obtain/renew their CSCS cards.
CELEBRATING 10 YEARS
2018 has already held many exciting
and thrilling adventures for Total
Support; the opening of the new
practical centre, the expansion of
training coverage in the UK, and the
anniversary of a decade of providing
training to the glazing industry.
Sharon Alderton, the company’s
founder and managing director
started the organisation after
working for many years in pre-
school training projects. One of
Sharon’s major accomplishments
in her role was her involvement in
the development and set-up of the
Government’s flagship ‘Sure Start’
centre in London.
The experience she developed
from working with unqualified and
unemployed people over time has
aided the development of Total
Support to be an organisation which
believes in training, developing and
growing a person’s own individual
strengths.
