7THINGS ...

7 things you didn ’ t know about ... Origin

As the UK ’ s leading manufacturer of bi-fold and residential doors , windows and blinds , Origin has built a strong reputation for its high quality products , unrivalled lead times and the gold-standard service it offers its partners . That said , there is still plenty more to learn about this fast growing company .
1 ) OVER 200,000 BI-FOLDS MANUFACTURED
Since launching the company in 2001 , Origin has manufactured over 200,000 of its world-renowned individual bi-fold door leaves , not to mention 50,000 windows since introducing the Origin Window to the market in 2014 . That ’ s 60,000 locks and 600,000 hinges fitted to the doors alone ! The record for the number of windows that Origin has made in one week is a whopping 707 . Last year alone , the company bought 1,600 tons of aluminium to keep up with customer demand .
2 ) THE ORIGIN BI-FOLD DOOR SLAVE HANDLE CAN WITHSTAND 25 STONE
Origin ’ s internal research and development team work tirelessly to make sure the Origin systems are the best on the market , continuously optimising their performance , thermal efficiency , security and operation .
In July 2015 , this included introducing an ergonomically designed slave handle , which performs better than Grade 4 lever handle specs and can withstand a 25 stone force .
For Origin , the secret of great design lies in its simplicity , which is why it has designed the system for seamless operation . Both the fork and carriage assemblies form a single piece casting for a considerable increase in strength . The solid zinc fork increases strength for smoother running , while the carriage wheels give greater resilience and quieter , more efficient operation . Finally , the D handle , designed with a new pin , allows for easier installation .
3 ) A QUESTION OF SPORT
Origin supports a number of young athletes , including three time Olympic swimmer , Francesca Halsall . This year , Fran retired from the sport and opened her own café in Altrincham alongside fellow Olympians Jessica Varnish and Liam Phillips . The café , aptly named ‘ Common Ground ’ to show a mutual love of sport and good coffee , has opened following a full renovation and the installation of Origin Bi-fold Doors . Welsh professional golfer , Nick Lofthouse , and Joe Hides , a slopestyle freeskier , are also among the ‘ Origin Athletes ’. What ’ s more , the company continues to sponsor local football club , Wycombe Wanderers , by putting its name to the Family Stand .
