New Roof Lantern Feature
Windowlink has enhanced its sales, presentation
and pricing software for windows and doors, Focus,
with the addition of a roof lantern feature.
»»According to the latest
report from window industry market
intelligence supplier, Insight Data, the
conservatory market has, “reinvented itself
driven by a shortage of housing stock and
rising house prices, as well as product
innovation, which is creating renewed
consumer desire.”
Windowlink’s MD, Mark Dudley
commented: “One of these developments
is the rise of the integrated, bespoke glazed
extensions. Many of our installer clients
currently using Focus have told us they are
experiencing strong demand from endconsumers investing in extension projects, and
have added the innovative roof lantern to their
portfolio in order to take advantage of this
cross-selling opportunity.
“The new feature enables companies that
offer the increasingly popular glazed roofs to
produce life-like designs of the completed
project – from windows, to bi-folds, patio or
French doors, all the way through to the roof
lantern, as part of a fully priced quotation.”
Mark adds.

Investing in the future
»»As part of its long-term
growth strategy, leading specialist aluminium
fabricator CDW Systems has invested
significantly in its factory, ensuring its
manufacturing process is as lean as possible.
The changes include switching to vertical
racking instead of horizontal, to allow for
more storage space and increase efficiency.
The investments have been made in order
to prepare CDW Systems for further growth,
following two consecutive record breaking
years in business.
Alongside the restructure of the factory,
CDW Systems has introduced a second shift,
which has increased production to 16 hours
a day to meet increased demand and
bring lead times down.
Overseeing the changes are a newly
appointed board of directors, to be
officially unveiled in the coming
weeks, including Sales Director,
Operational Director, Technical
Director and Production Director,
who bring over 120 years’ experience.
Jerry Webb, managing director
of CDW, said: “CDW has experienced
phenomenal growth recently and with the
investments in the new factory, alongside
recruiting one of the best teams in the
aluminium sector, we have the resources in
place to continue this trajectory and help our
customers grow too.”

»»Network VEKA

Improvements again provided
the main sponsorship for its local
regional show.
The Saddleworth Show has
become an annual highlight in
the AWC calendar, with Network
VEKA’s Brand Ambassador
Steve Davis joining the company
to generate sales of more than
£40,000 during the 2013 event.
This year’s show took place at
Well’i’hole Farm, Greenfield on
Sunday 28th June.
“Sponsoring the show gave us
a great opportunity to get the
AWC name out to people from
throughout the Oldham region”,
explains MD, Michael Griffiths.
“The stand gave us room to
showcase numerous products
‘in the flesh’ and our friendly
team were on hand to discuss
the benefits of working with a
Network VEKA installer.”
AWC was recently named
Best Retailer at the Oldham
Business Awards. The company is
a long-standing patron of Doctor
Kershaw’s Hospice – a local
specialist care facility for adults
with life limiting illnesses. This
September will see them sponsor
the charity’s Colour Blast event,
where entrants follow a 3km
course while being showered with
clouds of powder paint.
