At the outset ERA had set a £10,000 target, enough for four call- outs, each costing approximately £2,500. Employees used their ingenuity to come up with a broad variety of fund-raising activities, including a book sale, Valentines’ raffle, Grand National competition, World Cup raffle and sweepstake, Christmas raffle, a sponsored Snowden walk and collection tins. In addition, ERA’s suppliers kindly made donations. Commenting on the donation, Jon Cottrell of Midlands Air Ambulance Charity said: “We are reliant on donations to keep us operational as we receive no government funding.
