A + RATED WINDOWS AS STANDARD
»»
WITH A CLEAR commitment to drive the business forward and over-deliver for customers, highly-respected Essex-based fabricator GJB Window Systems has made further investments to strengthen its offering. The firm will now be offering high-performance, A + rated windows as standard.
The UK’ s largest Eurocell fabricator has introduced a higher-specification, sixchambered extrusion, which allows GJB to exceed the
A + 10 rating that is needed to achieve the A + standard. The new, slimmer profile not only delivers a more contemporary appearance, it allows for a larger sealed unit, which both combine to create an impressive rating of A + 13.
“ This is undoubtedly exciting news for GJB and its customers as we implement this next stage of our investment strategy,” comments Managing Director, Roy Frost.“ This big step forward not only strengthens our position
as the leading trade supplier in the PVCu market but provides businesses across the country with a higher-specification product as standard.”
In addition to renewing the leases on both of GJB’ s factory units, the firm has extended its range to include the complete Residence Collection. The market-leading timber-alternative range is made available through GJB’ s strategic partnership with new sister-company Listers Central. www. gjbdevelopments. co. uk

SOUTH-DEVON BASED FAB FRAMES is looking to further develop sales of its manufactured Solidor, with the introduction of a new dedicated unit for composite door manufacturing.
For the last 6 years Fab Frames has been manufacturing its own Solidor composite doors with the exact same components as the solid core composite door pioneer including an Avantis multi-point lock, KÖMMERLING outer frame and the 3 Star Kitemarked Ultion cylinder as standard. The commissioning of the new dedicated unit will increase capacity to 100 doors a week, serving the South West of the UK with regular deliveries and direct support.
As well as providing the trade with a high performance composite door solution, backed with unrivalled marketing support, Fab Frames also supplies Cornwall Council and Housing 21 with entrance doorsets, as it looks to build on its success in the trade sector with further commercial and new build opportunities.
Mike Taylor, managing director of Fab Frames commented:“ We’ ve had a wonderful relationship with Solidor for the past six years and have been able to build a very successful division within the business.”

U-value breakthrough
»»
DESPITE THE IMMINENT LAUNCH of the outward opening System 76, KÖMMERLING continues to invest in the 70mm platform and now its C70 and O70 Gold ® window and door system has been reengineered to achieve a U-value of just 1.2 W /( m2k).
With many other 70mm systems only achieving a U-value of 1.4 W /( m2k) at best, this development by KÖMMERLING will be a major plus for its network of trade manufacturers and installers, particularly those in Scotland. Building specifiers can also issue the requirements for better U-values with increased confidence in proven, technically-led 70mm window and door systems.
The accomplishment of a U-value of 1.2 W /( m2k) with the 5-chambered C70 and O70 Gold ® systems, was achieved on windows that were fully reinforced in the frame, sash and mullion. The glass specification was for a 28mm IGU, 90 % argon filled comprising of Planiclear, Planitherm One and Swisspacer Ultimate spacer bar. The same window configuration also successfully achieved PAS 24 certification.
Brian McDonald, commercial manager for KÖMMERLING commented:““ For the commercial and new build sectors, the attainment of a U-value of just 1.2 with a relatively standard glass specification is a major breakthrough.”
