South West fabricator
opens new factory
Leading South West fabricator,
MWD Trade Frames, has recently
completed the construction of
a new production facility in
Cheddar, totalling up to 20,000
sq. ft.
The move and increased capacity
means MWD Trade Frames can
offer even shorter lead times and
exceptional service. Equipped
with cutting edge technology and
processes, the new site offers perfect
conditions for growth.
And the timing could not be
better, as the company recently
reported an 18 per cent sales rise for
the first quarter of 2014, compared
to the same period last year.
Director Jim Martin commented:
“The investment represents our
commitment to ensure the very best
product quality, fast turnaround
and comprehensive service for
our customers, helping them
win profitable new business with
market-leading products.
“The new factory will also
facilitate a steady growth for MWD
over the next couple of years, and,
not least, create new employment
opportunities in the area.”
MWD manufactures and supply
Duraflex casement windows,
residential, bi-folding and
composite doors, vertical sliding
sash windows and patios. They are
colour specialists and can provide
advice and support with how best
to sell its benefits.
Exova invests in new capabilities for
weather testing doors and windows
Exova Warringtonfire, the specialist fire and security testing and
certification provider, has recently expanded its dedicated door and
windows facility at its Willenhall site to house one of the largest air,
wind and water test rigs in the industry.
The test rig can accommodate large door and window samples up
to four metres wide and four metres high, ideal for large sliding and
sliding-folding patio doors currently popular in the marketplace.
The Willenhall facility has also increased its UKAS scope of approval
to include air permeability to EN12427, water tightness to EN12489
and wind resistance to EN12444 on full size industrial and commercial
doors and roller shutters.
‘latest investment has greatly
improved the test environment’
FASTER TURNAROUND
Lead times are now faster than ever before for weather testing to
BS6375-1, results of which can be added to CE Marking declaration
of performance, a mandatory requirement since July 2013. Air
permeability test results can also be used for energy rating calculations.
Mark West, Door & Window Laboratory Manager, comments: “This
latest investment has greatly improved the test environment, and the
turnaround time of tests, and allows us to provide our customers with
the quality and speed of service they demand.”
