doors has been produced by
Phoenix Door Panels part of
Masco UK Window Group.
Available now, the dedicated
brochure features the complete
choice of refreshingly different
contemporary door styles and
hardware designs inspired by
sophisticated European trends. It
also details the variety of specially-
designed glazing aperture shapes
and positions, including diamond,
off-set and semi-circular, which
provide a refreshing twist on
conventional composite door
styles. Also featured are popular
new shades, such as Chartwell
Green, along with exciting new
elongated, knob pull and shaped
handles, all reflecting the latest
trends in door furniture and
presented in an appealing, easy-toread format.
“As an exciting and important
extension to our wide-ranging
composite door portfolio, the
Continental Collection offers extra
choice for homeowners as well
as providing valuable additional
selling opportunities for installers,”
explains Haydon Statham,
Phoenix National Sales Manager.
“This standalone brochure is
firmly aimed at the homeowner
seeking a quality entrance door
with all the uprated security,
thermal and aesthetic benefits
that a modern composite version
provides, but with an added dash

PVC-U’S PERFECTLY SUITED TO
PEMBROKESHIRE CONSERVATION AREA
Long-standing Network VEKA
member, and VEKA customer
of more than 25 years, Gardinia
(West Wales Ltd) has completed
a contract to replace the timber
windows of a traditional cottage
with PVC-U, in the national park
conservation area of St Davids.
St Davids, on the South
West Welsh Coast, is Britain’s
smallest city and was designated
as a conservation area by the
Pembrokeshire Coast National Park
in 1972. Narbeth-based Gardinia
has been operating throughout
Pembrokeshire and West Wales
for more than 30 years and is well
respected in the local area.
Director David Morris explained
how they were chosen for the
project: “We were selected to
carry out the work based on our
reputation and the fact that we were
able to offer a PVC-U window that
looked virtually indistinguishable
from the timber originals.
“The Park authority was prepared
to allow PVC-U instead of timber,
provided the traditional style of
the home would be maintained.
Thanks to VEKA’s high spec
Vertical Slider with mock sash
horns we could achieve the slim
sightlines and traditional ‘look’ of
traditional painted timber, with all
the modern benefits of PVC-U.”

comments on the highest WER
achievement: “Direct Trade is a
very forward thinking company
and as soon as the A+ rating
became available we knew we
wanted to achieve the standard

becoming more aware of Window
Energy Ratings, and offering an
A+ product will give our customers
an advantage in what is a very
competitive market place.”

achieved BS7950 specification for
enhanced security performance
for casement and tilt and turn
windows and PAS 024 for
residential and dual rebate
composite doors, also achieving a
