There is so much going on in the industry right now – 2014
is turning out to be a very eventful year in many ways.
The Triple Glazing debate
gathers momentum this month:
it is clear that this important
issue is only going to rise up
the agenda, given everyone’s
continuing concern about
energy prices – and availability.
The debate continues so
watch this space for further
developments.
By acquiring its competitor
GEALAN – a company that has
been established and well-known
on the market for many years
and that has recently been relying
more heavily on a differentiation
strategy – the VEKA Group says
it is strengthening its competitive
position in Germany, Europe,
and the rest of the world.
Although it is “business as usual”
for VEKA UK, the acquisition
does demonstrate to all its
customers the Group’s stability
and commitment to more
investment.
Also back on the agenda, the
pros and cons of PVCU-v-Timber
– particularly when it comes to
Listed properties and those in
some conservation areas.
The new Consumer Rights Bill
has rightly attracted the attention
of the GGF, whose members have
expressed some concern about
how the Act will impact on this
sector. As with other legislation,
its wider implications have not,
perhaps, been thought through
thoroughly.
