CONSISTENT APPEAL IN TIME OF CHANGING REGS

» WHILST MANY WINDOW and door products are having to adapt to the new requirements of the 2022 Building Regulations , it is very much ‘ business as usual ’ for Uni-Blinds ® integral blinds from Morley Glass .
The market-leading range of blinds that are permanently sealed inside a double or triple glazed unit is already compliant with the higher thermal requirements demanded by Part L , and is unaffected by the minimum standards for ventilation required by Part F .
The key reason for this is that Morley Glass has always manufactured its Uni-Blinds ® integral blinds using high performance glass products from Saint-Gobain Glass for enhanced thermal and solar control properties .
These can be specified for every integral blind unit , including the advanced thermally insulating Planitherm One glass , which can be used to create Uni-Blinds ® units with a whole window U-value of 1.6 W / m 2 K or lower , along with Planitherm 4S and the class-leading SKN range where a superior level of solar control is required .
Ian Short , MD of Morley Glass said , “ Changes to the minimum standards set by the Building Regulations will always cause a degree of uncertainty and – in the case of Part F – may not be universally welcomed . However , the good news for anyone installing Uni-Blinds ® integral blinds in new build or replacement projects is that nothing changes in relation to Part L or Part F .
“ As the Building Regulations evolve in the line with the Future Homes Standard , we are continuously innovating to stay ahead of the curve – whether that is in terms of thermal , security , overheating , safety or sustainability .”
All Uni-Blinds ® integral blinds are manufactured in the UK by Morley Glass exclusively using ScreenLine ® systems from the Italian integrated blinds pioneer Pellini S . p . A . Given the 19-year supply-partnership Morley Glass has with Pellini , it is uniquely places to be first to bring integral blind innovations to the market , as its latest SV + cordless sliding Venetian and pleated blackout demonstrate .

Sound expansion to further support

» CARL F GROUPCO HAS FURTHER expanded its window vent inventory with the addition of the new Simon Acoustic ventilator range from RW Simon Ltd . The new acoustic vents are designed to assist fabricators and installers in creating aesthetic solutions for all acoustic requirements , while still meeting the latest updates to Part F [ ventilation ] and Part E [ resistance to sound ] of the Building Regulations in England for both new build and refurbishment projects .
John Crittenden , Managing Director at Carl F Groupco , said : “ The recent changes to Part F [ ventilation ] requires additional ventilation to circulate air in living spaces but in some high-traffic situations , that can increase the chances of introducing outside noise . By fitting the RW Simon acoustic vents , you are compliant with both Part F and Part E requirements .
“ The ultimate responsibility falls with the installer to guarantee their installations comply with regulations but we see it as our job to ensure we supply compliant-ready products to assist with these exacting requirements . Our ever-evolving product range , in-house technical support and strong partner relationships ensure our customers can rely on us to carry the compliant product inventory they need .”
The vents offer a sound reduction of up to 42dB and have been independently tested in accordance with BE EN ISO 717- 1:1997 [ airborne sound insulation ] and BS EN 20140-10:1992 . They have also met the World Health Organisation [ WHO ] recommended reduction of 33dB , and all models in the range have a minimum equivalent area of 2500mm ².
With five internal options available , the acoustic ventilator range can meet most requirements for new build projects . There is an option to upgrade to an inbuilt humidity control operation with a hygromatic sensor to open and close the vent dependent on the quality of the moisture in the room . An additional acoustic sleeve is also available to further increase the acoustic properties .
Carl F Groupco ’ s extensive range of acoustic and Part F-compliant trickle vents means the company can always provide its customers with the right ventilation solutions to meet market standards .
