THE EVOLUTION OF GLAZING
How innovation is making high-performance glazing a practical choice for new-build, replacement, and retrofit projects.
Across the construction industry, expectations of glazing have changed dramatically. Whether designing new homes, refurbishing commercial buildings or replacing ageing windows, specifiers are looking for products that can deliver exceptional thermal performance without introducing unnecessary complexity.
Triple glazing has long been recognised as one of the most effective ways of improving a building’ s energy efficiency. Yet despite its benefits, widespread adoption has often been limited by practical considerations. Conventional triple glazed units are typically thicker and significantly heavier than double glazing, placing greater demands on window systems, transportation, installation and handling.
As energy performance standards continue to rise, the industry needs solutions that don’ t force a compromise between performance and practicality.
At Regency Glass, we believe the next generation of triple glazing should work across every application, not just one sector of the market. That’ s why we developed Regency Triple ® featuring Corning ® Enlighten™ Glass.
Built in collaboration with Corning Incorporated, the world’ s leading innovator in glass, ceramics, and materials science, Regency Triple incorporates a 0.5mm centre pane of Corning ® Enlighten™ Glass. This advanced Boro-aluminosilicate glass allows a high-performance triple glazed unit to fit within a standard 28mm cavity and achieve lower U-values than possible with conventional double or triple glazed units.
The result is a solution that weigh’ s approximately 30 % lighter than traditional triple glazed units while being only around 5 % heavier than a standard double glazed unit. U-values as low as 0.5 W / m ². K are achievable depending on the specification, giving architects, fabricators and installers greater flexibility without sacrificing thermal performance.
Crucially, Regency Triple has been engineered to suit the diverse demands of today’ s construction market. Whether specified for new-build developments, replacement windows or retrofit projects, the product enables customers to achieve the benefits of triple glazing without the weight and thickness traditionally associated with it. Combined with Thermo
Plastic Spacer bar( TPS ®) technology, it also offers bespoke cavity widths and the flexibility to incorporate a wide range of outer pane specifications, including laminated glass.
Innovation is only valuable if it can be delivered consistently. Following our move to a purpose-built 420,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Warrington, Regency Glass has invested heavily in advanced automation and precision manufacturing technology to ensure Regency Triple can be produced at scale whilst maintaining the quality and consistency our customers expect.
As the construction industry continues to pursue higher standards of energy efficiency, the future of glazing will depend on products that combine advanced materials with practical design. Triple glazing should no longer be viewed as a compromise between performance and usability. It should be an accessible solution for every type of project.
Regency Triple ® featuring Corning ® Enlighten™ Glass has been developed with exactly that ambition in mind.
