Seeing Things in a Different Light
‘ Unique Invitational’ raises £ 5,000 for charity
» OCTOBER IS A FUNNY OLD MONTH. One minute we’ re enjoying bright mornings and the last bits of summer, and the next it’ s dark before you’ ve even thought about leaving work. But perhaps there’ s something to be said for looking at things in a different light.
Because our industry is full of contrasts. Old and new. Traditional and technological. Established businesses and new ideas. Heritage buildings alongside brand-new developments. And increasingly, those things aren’ t as far apart as they might first appear.
issue.
That’ s certainly the feeling I get from this month’ s
We’ re looking at National Home Security Month, the work of the associations and organisations helping to shape and support our industry, Heritage, and Glazpartner’ s annual supplement. Four very different subjects, but each gives us another view of the industry and what’ s happening within it.
And perhaps that’ s one of the best things about a magazine. It gives us the chance to step outside our own particular corner of the industry and see what else is going on.
Because the more we talk to people, the more obvious it becomes that those corners are becoming increasingly connected.
Doors and windows. Hardware and security. Access control and automation. Smart technology and traditional products. There are plenty of overlaps, and plenty of opportunities in the spaces between them. It’ s also one of the ideas behind OPENEX. We’ ve talked about it quite a bit already, but the more the plans come together, the more I think the name says exactly what we’ re trying to achieve. It’ s about opening things up. Bringing different parts of the industry together, getting people out of their usual circles and giving them the chance to see what else is happening around them.
In some ways, it’ s the real-world version of what we try to do here at Clearview.
Every issue brings together different people, businesses, subjects and perspectives. Some are looking back, some are looking forward, and some are simply trying to work out what’ s happening right now. And perhaps we need all of those views. Because sometimes it’ s only when you look at something from a different angle that you see the bigger picture. So, as the days get shorter and the nights get longer, take a little time to look around.
There’ s plenty to see.
See you next time, Gemma
Unique Window Systems has celebrated its fifth annual golf event with more than 100 guests from across the industry joining the business for a day of golf, networking and fundraising.
Held at Birstall Golf Club in Leicester, The Unique Invitational 2026 brought together customers, suppliers, industry friends and partners of Unique Window Systems for a day that combined friendly competition with fundraising for an important cause – Hope Against Cancer.
