Switchable smart glass is electrically controlled to provide privacy or clarity almost instantly. It its created by applying a thin film containing an LCD interlayer to a pane of laminated glass, which is connected to an electricity supply during installation. This allows the film to be changed from its opaque state when the power is off, to transparent when the electricity supply is switched on.
