INDUSTRY NEWS industry , leading the way with a genuine closed-loop recycling system within the UK .
Through VEKA Recycling , we take end-of-life PVCu windows and doors from installers across the country and recycle the materials for reuse at our plant in Wellingborough . Approximately 95 % of the waste collected by VEKA is recycled and we can reintroduce the material directly into the production of new window and door profiles . When you consider that it ’ s possible to recycle PVCu windows and doors up to ten times , extending product lifespan to 350 years , the value of the raw material is more than evident .
This approach not only ensures that we are minimising waste and reducing reliance on virgin plastics but also that our products appeal to the increasingly conscious consumer . A key part of every new VEKA product innovation is the inclusion of recycled materials . For example , the recently launched 150mm ReCore Cill incorporates recycled PVCu within its core , creating a more sustainable window cill without compromising on its quality .
So , you can see that the UK fenestration industry faces its fair share of challenges in 2025 , from economic pressures to a labour shortfall and barriers to homeowner spending . But with adversity comes opportunity and businesses that focus on sustainability , design innovation and operational efficiency stand to benefit from shifting consumer behaviours .
As ever , VEKA will be here to continue to support our customers to grow through our core focuses on innovation , quality and sustainability .
