I contacted a factory to discuss the possibility of creating custom accessories for the tool , only to be told they didn ’ t have the necessary tooling to produce them . Without hesitation , I asked if they could create the required tooling and they agreed to quote us for the work . This was the beginning of a new chapter in tool innovation for locksmiths .
Overcoming Challenges in Product Development
The process of developing new products and tools is rarely straightforward . It ’ s not just about designing something that works ; it ’ s about designing something that works better than anything else out there . That means overcoming challenges in design , usability , and manufacturing , while constantly fine-tuning ideas . Souber ® Tools , founded in 1990 by Paul Souber , has been deeply rooted in creating professional locksmithing solutions . Paul , who worked for Chubb Locks for 13 years , brought his extensive engineering skills to this new venture , ensuring that each product is designed to meet the day to day needs of locksmiths .
In 1989 , Paul invented his first locksmithing tool , which sparked the creation
of Souber ® Tools . Since then , our product range has grown significantly , with over 600 lines available today , including the acclaimed DBB 5-Minute Morticer . We ’ ve developed a strong reputation for producing high-quality , reliable and precise tools that professionals trust .
To ensure the highest standards , Souber ® Tools employs specialist staff and works with over 50 associate sub-contract operations to complete the tools . We have invested heavily in precision manufacturing , equipping our facilities with extensive monitoring instrumentation and equipment . This allows us to conduct stringent engineering checks and quality controls before products are dispatched , ensuring that every tool we produce meets the expectations of locksmiths worldwide .
We also maintain a large stock of fast-moving items and hold raw materials in bulk , minimising the effects of supply fluctuations and world currency changes . This approach helps us deliver consistent , reliable service to our customers .
