» AS CERTAIN AS BIG BEN ’ S 12 CHIMES , AS SURE AS JOOLS Holland ’ s Hootenanny , as absolute as Auld Lang Syne – ringing in the new year means the ubiquitous Annual Predictions are back with a bang . As is now tradition , after we wish all our readers , contributors and readers a very happy new year , next we look to you to see what ’ s in store for 2025 ...
Looking back at the headlines from this time last year in the same feature , statements such as “ cautious optimism ”, “ rising to the challenge ”, “ pushing boundaries ”, and “ watching out for the unknowns ” dominated the pages . As we collected and collated your Annual Predictions for this year , many hold a similar sentiment .
For me the term ‘ self-fulfilling prophecy ’ springs to mind – by that I mean when business leaders talk of remaining cautiously optimistic ; the prepare for the worst but hope for the best mentality , they already seem to have plans in place that keep their companies not only surviving , but thriving , through adversity and uncertainty .
Speaking of which ‘ uncertainty ’ is another word that has cropped up a lot in recent years in the Annual Predictions feature , and it ’ s here again this year too . When we ask contributors for their forecasts , we know that none of you have a crystal ball , we can ’ t predict 100 % what will happen about anything at all .
But , we do know that with your experience and expertise there is thought , consideration and rationale at the base of every article . Looking back at the past 12 months , four years , or for some of our authors – decades of experience in fenestration – means that while you can never know for certain what might happen , we certainly get better every year at navigating our way through it .
2024 saw huge changes in the UK with a new government ; global politics and continuing warfare . In our own industry we saw the end of some huge brands . Uncertainty itself is perhaps the only certainty in business and the wider world .
One thing seems to be for sure however , and that ’ s whatever happens we keep going . If you get time , before you read this year ’ s Annual Predictions , take a look at last year ’ s on www . clearview-uk . com , and the progress between each . I did and they make for a very interesting and optimistic read !
See you next time , Gemma
